How to Create Our Daily Goals

You're busy. I'm busy. Everyone's busy. Yet despite this bustle, we regularly don't feel especially productive from day to day. Entire weeks can flash by in a blur of meaningless emails, conferences, and admin tasks while the massive stuff is going untended.

As the 19th-century philosopher Henry David Thoreau wrote, "It isn't enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?" If we want to take back control of our workday schedules and priorities, the simplest way to do it is by way of relentlessly wondering how we're spending our time. However, what questions ought we ask?

The key here is control of attention. We're so distracted, and we're feeding that feeling on every occasion we switch between responsibilities. We need to (re)educate our attention. Focused interest can serve obligations - that's the left hemisphere at work, doing rational, deductive, logical, step-by-step questioning.

The other sort of attention, which serves creativity, is where the right hemisphere is dominant. That calls for deeply quieting the thoughts. It was Betty Edwards (drawing on the proper aspect of the mind) who located that one powerful manner to prompt a shift from left to the right hemisphere is to copy an upside-down line drawing. Or to genuinely count to a certain number.

But there are lots of approaches to activate the shift: take a walk in nature, go for a run, and concentrate on a classical tune...even take a bath. It's repetition that causes the shift. The more we teach any muscle - which includes the right hemisphere - the more potent and livelier it becomes.

This all can be achieved here with the change of habit. You can very easily tap in to your power of great focus.

Terrible narrator

Just read the book, you will get more out of it. Glad it was short. The narration was terrible, very monotonous.

Not what I expected

It's not what I expected. It was very blind and the thick monotone. It did not hold my interest. I'm kind of glad it was short.

TO THE POINT

This book was very to the point, firm, and easy to listen to grasp each concept.

Needless crude language

Needless crude language is a huge turnoff to me and most people that I know. I won't consider buying from this author again.

Absorbable Quick Suggestions In Self Pacing

I am still getting use to the robotic pacing of speech to text presentation. I would have to say this is my closest gripe. However, I loved the length and the content on it as I am shifting to a lifestyle this insight addresses.

I feel like I have a friend in these words helping me pace my own schedule and balance my input/output (this is great for one with ADD.) I thank my managers for suggesting this and will be recommending it for anyone needing a little nudge or encouragement in work them management.

Applicable & Practical Techniques

Thourogh, descriptive, and practical! I like that it's concise but short which makes it easy to review with multiple listening sessions.

Sounded like a robot was talking.

Super short. Nothing new in this book. Other ones are better, like "The One". The reader was robotic.

Horrible narration!!!

The narrator of this book is so bad that you can't even focus on the material being read. I wouldn't recommend this even if it was free.

Not the Same😒

This Audible version is not good. I am so disappointed I have the book and wanted to follow along. NOT SO! It was short, and left out so much of the book… I wasted my credit. Besides that the horrible irritating sound of the bot’s voice was as if someone was scratching their nails across a chalkboard. Certainly it would have been worth it to have a real person narrating (the full book) what could have otherwise been a good listening experience. 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 the book was excellent this was a mess. I held out to the end, but I want my darn credit back.
