About this listen

Prince Roland - the Childe Roland, Heir to the Imperial Throne - grew up in a gilded cage, surrounded by men who wanted to use his powers while keeping him under tight control.

He was growing into a petty sadistic brat until a Marine Pathfinder took him in hand, helping him to overcome his caretakers - jailers - and make something of himself. But it was too late for Earth and, as the planet collapsed into chaos, Roland and his mentor barely escaped before it was too late. He was taken into the care of the Marine Corps and given a chance to go to Boot Camp and forge a new life.

But now, unsure what to do with him, his superiors set him on a task. Roland has to take command of a training mission and travel to New Doncaster, a planet on the verge of exploding into civil war. His mission is to build an army and stabilise the situation as quickly as possible.

But, for an untried prince in a snake pit, facing enemies on both sides of the war, it will be far from easy....

Great 👍

The story was great as usual, the narrator was spotty. Some of the way he says "Yes Sir" is not right.

Keep Them coming Please

I was so happy when I finally found the latest book. I was even happier to see it was the child prince Rowlands book. I read a couple of the reviews I think people are being a little harsh. This guys books all about character development in my opinion, and I love how deep he’s gone with all these characters in the storyline ever since stalker stalkers what a great series can’t wait to hear 19 more!!!!

Empire Corps is back!

Christopher Nuttal hit a home run with this episode of the series. He does a good job of character development and realistic action and richly threaded backstory. This story does well to further develop the saga of the human civilization after the fall of the empire and is on track with the first installments of the series.

Yet another good entry into the series

Of course you can see the parallels between fiction and non fiction and this one draws very good and dire conclusions.. Yes it is a good story that's enjoyable to listen to.

This series has so much diversity of story!

I can’t pick what story I want to read next in this series, but I do know they need to come out faster!

I also miss the chapter intros from decline and fall of the empire…

Cash grab

were this many books in and there's still no main story? it's just a bunch of side stories and then this is a two-part book on something that can easily be a one-part book. it's too predictable. I know what's going to happen before it even happens

Same ol' same ol'

Long long ago, I asked for a follow-up on the Childe Roland, and finally it is here. So I am happy about that, but it's just weird. A pampered hedonistic lay-about wastrel of a prince makes a turnabout and is now doing a respectable job as a Marine! I did not expect that.

The war he is involved in here follows the same story line as every other war on every other planet. I expect he will finally meet up with Sarah from the rebels, and they will hit it off and marry and run the planet well, just at Stalker and his woman are doing on Avalon. But that was so many volumes ago, we have no idea what's happening there. And the Wolfbane guy, and that woman-the empress or whatever, what are they up to? Those plot lines have been dropped.

So all in all, it's pretty boring.
