About this listen

Princess Sarani Rao has it all: beauty, riches, and a crown. But with her father an Indian maharajah and her late mother a British noblewoman, her mixed blood makes her a pariah and a target. When her father is murdered, her only hope of survival is to escape on the next ship out - captained by the man she once loved...and spurned.

Captain Rhystan Huntley, the reluctant duke of Embry, has a place in the English fleet that he's loath to give up. But duty is calling him home, and this is his final voyage. Leave it to fate that the only woman he's ever loved must stow away on his ship.

Amazing read

Amazing storyline, very quick passes and exciting. A wonderful slow burn. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun, spicy, read with strong female characters.

Story Great, Performance Painful

No emotional inflections at all. You couldn't tell the difference between the different characters. So boring that it was easy to fall asleep when listening to the story. I would recommend for the story but be aware of the boring performance and don’t drive while listening to it you may fall asleep at the wheel.

Great story

I loved everything about this book. It felt so rich, vibrant and warm. The characters went through dramatic transitions and upheavals. The narrator was exceptional lending extraordinary color and emotional depth to the characters. This is my first experience with both author and narrator but it won' t be the last!

Interesting Story but Unlikable Male Protagonist

The plot line was very interesting for the regency genre but I could not get myself to like the male protagonist and it left a sour taste for the story overall. He was selfish, cruel and hypocritical. He held a vice grip on his percived hurt for far longer than he should have and used it as justication to treat the female protagonist cruelly in almost every setting while she lusted after him. He couldn't see past his own greviences to see anyone else's pain and plite and it was distasteful. I couldn't see why she kept putting her guard down around him when all he would do is stab her (figuratively), repeatedly.
