The burning desire the young patriot spy feels for the printer's daughter may put both their lives in danger in this first book in the series Destiny's Daughters.
Sterling Thayer's plan is ingenious. On Christmas Eve, he arranges to meet his twin brother. He plies him with drink, takes him captive, and assumes his identity. The uniform fits perfectly—no one has ever been able to tell them apart. From then on, he is Captain Grayson Thayer, tried-and-true Tory in the King's army. Sterling's scheme to infiltrate the high ranks of English officers is daring and dangerous, but more dangerous to him still is auburn-haired Reagan Llewellyn. The printer's daughter and her father are forced to put him up in their home and he sees her every day. From the moment he first lays eyes on her, he is lost. He yearns for her body and soul. He wants to be with her always—without pretext. But how can he do that without risking both their lives?

As for the book, it was fabulous! A historically correct depiction of the revolutionary war during the war years of 1777 -78. A well told descriptive story of how the patriotic colonials helped in whatever way they could. The story moved forward without a lot of filler moments repeating facts and bogging down the pace of the story. The H/H were well matched and both very likeable characters. A number of sex scenes, but not so explicit to be distasteful or offensive. There was a bit of storyline that was a surprise revealed late in the book.
The narrator did an excellent job with multiple character voices both male and female. Overall, I rate this book with 5 stars and look forward to the next of Destiny's Daughters. It seems this book was written in the 1990s, but new to Audible in 2023.
