Publisher's summary

The Psychology of Fashion offers an insightful introduction to the exciting and dynamic world of fashion in relation to human behaviour, from how clothing can affect our cognitive processes to the way retail environments manipulate consumer behaviour. The book explores how fashion design can impact healthy body image, how psychology can inform a more sustainable perspective on the production and disposal of clothing, and why we develop certain shopping behaviours.

With fashion imagery ever present in the streets, press, and media, The Psychology of Fashion shows how fashion and psychology can make a positive difference to our lives.

very informative

As a fashion designer I found this book informative. It really helps with getting more into my customers head.

Fantastic and honest perspective sometimes anaemic.

The topic of margenalazation, racism, and prejudice is anaemic but recognized. Intetesting perspective from a UK point of view.

I was interested but it's academic, rather a snore

I was truly looking forward to hearing this since I think fashion is interesting.

Within the first few minutes, I found the book disappointing. If you are looking for an academic evaluation of fashion, this is for you. It wasn't for me.

The chapter topic titles don't actually represent the topic information covered except in a very small way. Another disappointment for each chapter for me.

The reader has no obvious interest in the topics being read. So it's also dull as a performance. OK at best.

For me, fashion is fun and interesting. I like learning about it. While I know that not everything about it is, I enjoy finding out about what's current, what's from different eras and countries, how people can make choices that work well/better for them, how looks change.

This gave me very little of what I was hoping to hear and learn.
