About this listen

Greta knows two things to be true. The first: Trolls don't venture into the forest, especially during the day. The second: Kings don't save peddlers' daughters from those trolls, and they certainly don't deposit them atop royal horses and personally escort them home.

But sometimes, they do. And sometimes afterward, life gets very complicated....

The Queen of Gold and Straw is a romantic fairy tale retelling full of humor, first love, new love, promises, lots of straw, and - of course - gold.

Contains mature themes.

Well Written and Clean!

This was a fantastic retelling of this fairy tale. The whole story was very well thought out and the charecters felt very alive and interesting.

Half way through listening I went back to the description and noticed it says it has "mature themes" I don't like reading explicit content which is what I thought that ment. Nothing had happened so far so I kept listening because I was pretty into the story and decided if it got too dirty for me I would skip that part. I listened to the whole thing.

This book is very clean. There are no explicit love scenes. even the kisses seam sweet and mild to me. There are a few subtle verbal implications about it between charecters but that's it.

This book was very sweet and wholesome in my opinion and I was really happy with how well it was written. I enjoyed this book immensely.

Good

I really like this book I listed to it in two days. The storyline kept me interested. But it ends to quickly, it was going nice then it just ends.

The unexpected tale of gold

I loved the endearing story and the beautifully executed twists in this fairy tale. It does not disappoint. The dual voice acting adds even more to the enjoyment.

sad but good

This was a good read! I always love Shari's writing. This was a sad story, but I still love it. I love the unique take on Rumpelstiltskin. I don't like love triangles, but Shari is one author that writes stories good enough to get over that for. All in all, a wonderful story!

Started out strong

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and this one started out strong. I’m not wild about the female narrator, but I really liked the male narrator and the story was interesting and the romance was sweet.

Things took a turn, and after a series of assumptions and misunderstandings that could have been prevented with a combination of patience and communication, I no longer really cared who ended up with who.

Now I feel like the old lady in Princess Buttercup’s dream in “The Princess Bride,” shouting epithets over her faithlessness.
