Publisher's summary

Math Professor Sophie Knowles becomes involved in the restoration of the campus bell tower, which has been closed for decades, ever since a student died there in a tragic accident. Sophie is curious when history seems to repeat itself - one of her students, Jenn, who was chosen to play the carillon in the new bell tower is beaten and left in a coma. Are students associated with the bell tower cursed? Sophie is determined to get to the bottom of Jenn's tragedy, which may mean digging back in history and finding out what happened 25 years ago.

A +

This is an entertaining and well written series. I love Professor Knowles and wish I had had a math teacher like her. I love the way she puzzling through the mystery. I also like the respect she and Bruce have for each other. He supports her thrill seeking activities (solving murders) and she supports his (cliff climbing). They have have a great relationship and it doesn't overshadow the mystery. I look forward to the next book in this series.

The Quotient of Murder

I do love a mystery with an intelligent, strong, happy woman protagonist. This story had lots of clues along the way and I thought I had it all figured out, but I didn't. I will admit I had it mostly figured out, but there were still plenty of surprises in the end.

The Quotient of Murder is a very enjoyable, clean mystery set in small town Massachusetts. This has all the mystery elements, cold cases, murder, theft, assault. Who could ask for more?

Chris Kenworthy did a great job narrating. Narration can make or break a book. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and tend to listen to them sped up to between 1.2-1.3 - the narration held up which is not always the case. Sometimes when sped up, the narration becomes unbearable!

Sadly this looks like the last book in the series (for now?!) but happily, I found a whole different series by Camille Minichino.

On a side note, I live in MA so I am always interested in a book that is set here. It is interesting to me when I can visualize, from memory, what the characters are looking at etc.

The Bell Tower Mystery

The Quotient of Murder is Book 4 of the Professor Sophie Knowles by Camille Minichino. I have enjoyed each of the audio books in this series. I really enjoyed this audio book because it is a little bit different. The campus Bell tower has been closed for decades, ever since a student died. The campus is restoring the tower and chose one of Sophie's students to play carillon in the tower, but, she was beaten and left in a coma. Camille Minichino writes interesting stories and wonderful characters. Chris Ken worthy brings the audio book to life with a strong performance. I am really looking forward to the next audio book.

Sad to see this is last installment

Although my frustration with Sophie continued (holding information back from police - putting herself in danger (again!)), I'm going to miss not joining her on another adventure!
