About this listen

Most families have skeletons in their closets....

Moving back into her parents’ house with her teenage daughter had not been Georgia Thackery’s “Plan A”. But when she got a job at the local college, it seemed the sensible thing to do. So she settled in and began reconnecting with old friends. Including Sid.

Sid is the Thackery family’s skeleton. He’s lived in the house as long as Georgia can remember, although no one, including Sid, knows exactly where he came from and how he came to be a skeleton.

Sid walks, he talks, he makes bad jokes, he tries to keep Georgia’s dog from considering him a snack. And he manages to persuade Georgia to let him leave the house. But when she takes him to an anime convention - disguised as a skeleton, of course - he sees a woman who triggers memories of his past.

Now he is determined to find out how he died - with Georgia’s help. But their investigation may uncover a killer who’s still alive and well and bad to the bone....

An unusual premise - interesting take on academia and a good mystery to boot. And they kept the dog. Most important in my books.

Humorous cozy mystery

I didn’t know what to expect when I purchased this book, but I’m getting ready to listen to number 2!!!

Fun to listen to.

I enjoyed this mystery with a paranormal twist. The author has several clever ideas of how to make a skeleton more lifelike, and the characters are solid. The mystery kind of solved itself a little too suddenly, but that was okay. looking forward to more in the series.

Fun cozy mystery

Ok, so it may not be worth 5☆? But certainly feels that way compared to the rubbish I'm finding on audible lately.
I wasn't sure about the whole premise (sounded a bit like a kid's story) but glad I gave it a shot. The author did wonders and managed to avoid my pet peeves: like the obnoxiously nosy h or the overtly stupid h.
I certainly don't think you'll regret giving this 1 a try, even if you don't agree with the 5☆ rating.
In summary, I found it quirky and amusing, and not annoying (that's high praise from me)

childish concept that strangely worked

The conceit (the animated, talking skeleton) works remarkably well. The characters are well drawn and engaging. The mystery is interesting. And the depiction of the life of adjunct faculty is spot on! Well worth a listen.

Delightful!

Super cute premise. Sid the skeleton has such personality! I was particularly amused by his poutiness. Looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

What a cuuuute cozy mystery

I really liked this book. The plot was unique: a "living" skeleton who walks, talks, thinks, has a charming personality, was part of the family and helps solve murder mysteries, this was definitely not a story type I had read before. I was hooked from the start and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Unique concept
