About this listen

Kade Hollander is a worthless whore-mongering drunk wandering medieval England at the turn of the twelfth century. When a mysterious sentient sword appears at the end of a rainbow and tells Kade he only has days to live, his simple life of solitude becomes a desperate struggle for survival. With the aid of a talking toad, a sultry witch, and the magic sword, Kade must battle his way to the land of the dead to find the only hope of restoring his health. Caught between a haunted past, rekindling lost love, and remaining sober long enough to find a cure, Kade's life truly begins when it's about to end.

The Rainblade features violence, gore, nudity, and sexual content. It is intended for a mature audience.

A great way to make that long commute enjoyable

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy. I found this story one of those that is hard to leave.

What did you like best about this story?

I found one of the best parts is that the main character isn't the perfect knight in shining armor. He is flawed but not beyond redemption.

What does Joel Froomkin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Joel brings this story truly to life. he is able to breathe life into the characters and make them real to the listener.

Any additional comments?

First , to get it out of the way, I'll post this."This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review." Now that its out of the way I'll say I truly enjoyed this story and hope to see more from David.

Five Star Narration

I got this book via audiobook boom. The narrator was my favorite part of the book. The story was well written and the characters were believable but not over the top.I also had just listened to Power Games so perhaps my mind was more focused on the over the top characters there. This story about a talking sword that helps a man search for a cure for what will kill him was interesting. He also has a talking toad and a witch to help him in his quest.

Dang, that's good!

This has been my favorite book for as long as I've been listening to it. The story was really compelling, and the main character was relatable. I wouldn't want to be in his position for the most part, but there were times that wasn't the case. I'm really glad for the epilogue. The pseudo- history was also a nice touch.

The narration was fantastic, especially for the subject matter. It might be a bit out of place for sci-fi, but I think even that would be enjoyable. I highly recommend taking the time to listen.

Very solid if very average.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

The story was well written but not very inspired. if you want a very vanilla fantasy book this one will do you well, but there isn't much new to find here beyond the titles namesake. The story is well told and the characters are decently fleshed out, but I've read enough fantasy novels that I like them to be more novel than this one was.

A Toad, a Witch, and a Magic Sword...

Any additional comments?

The story has a quick start about a man named Kade, who meets the Rainblade, a sword

that communicates with him.

Kade learns that he doesn't have much time to live and begins on a journey to find

someone who can help him live and so the story really begins..

The book was an entertaining and Engaging Adventure story about life, family and love.

Joel Froomkin did well with the narration.

A Fun Read/Listen

Set in the 12th century, “The Rainblade is the story of Kade Hollander, a medieval England, good-for-nothing, nice guy, womanizer and drunk. Life is pretty simple for Kade until one day a magical sword appears at the end of a rainbow and tells Kade he only has days to live. Kade, along with a talking toad, soon finds himself on a quest to save his life by running a near impossible errand for a witch.

The story is light-hearted and well crafted by author David M. Jones while the narration is handled wonderfully by Joel Froomkin. “The Rainblade” is definitely worth your time.
