About this listen

Swords.

Sorcery.

Dick Jokes.

Truly do the gods smile upon you, dear listener, for the first four books in the hilarious Caverns and Creatures series are now available in one audiobook set. Join Tim, Dave, Julian, and Cooper as they are thrown into a hostile fantasy world filled with magic and monsters, and ruled over by a cruel and sadistic game master who taunts and harasses them while he sits back and eats their fried chicken.

Having taken on the bodies of their fantasy characters, Tim and the others are forced to discover the answers to two questions that every underachieving lowlife who's ever rolled a d20 has asked themselves at least once.

What if you and your friends got to live the game for real? What if you and your friends were assholes?

Would you have what it takes to survive? The strength? The wisdom? The...charisma?

Do you have the dice in your sack?

It's like Lord of the Rings meets your mom in a truck stop bathroom, but even cheaper.

This set includes:

  1. Critical Failures
  2. Critical Failures II: Fail Harder
  3. Critical Failures III: A Storm of S-Words
  4. Critical Failures IV: The Phantom Pinas

All I can say is, "WOW!"

Ok, maybe a little bit more than, "WOW!"

As a player of Dungeons and Dragons for 38 years, I knew I was going to enjoy this book series, and it did not disappoint.

What I didn't know is that the narrator would blow my mind.

I never heard a single book on audible with this kind of voice range. I thought there were multiple people narrating the book.

I will definitely be looking for more books read by this man.

Critical failures is great

A very funny twist on the sent to "a game world" trope. anyone who likes dnd or pathfinder and crude humor will love it

language

made myself finish it and I will say it improved some towards the end but the story would have been much more enjoyable without half so much foul language. seriously when you use the word fuck more than ten times in two minutes or less you lose me entirely. I'm a truck driver and don't hear that much profanity on the cb.

Totally different and fun.

You have to enjoy Dungeons & Dragons or some type of game like that to enjoy this book. Other than that it's a Great Book. Funny and gave me some ideas for my own game.

Great story but hard to like the characters

Great story filled with a bunch of idiots. The story is meant to be funny, which is easier to do with a cast of characters that you would choke to death if you were in the same situation. The one thing that was odd was that in book 4, many of the characters had major and abrupt personality changes from the first 3 books.

to much swearing

the story is cute, the reader does a good job at the voices, but the sheer stupidity of the protagonists and the unseemly amount of swearing made it hard to enjoy the book as much as I would have otherwise.

Engaging and entertaining

As a dungeon master, d&d fan and geek I loved all the references, geeky jokes and d&d mentions in this story. You don't really need to know much about d&d 5o enjoy this story, as some of the characters in this story have never touched a twenty sided die, so new comers can rest easy.

Crude toilet humor

Not appropriate for children! Pretty entertaining, about three or four really good belly laughs, but definitely over-reliant on excreta as a comedic device to where it got predictable and counterproductive. Really loved some of them dialogue and insult-comedy.

I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a book this much

This book was hilarious and entertaining and downright amazing. I don’t even like dungeons and dragons or whatever the geeky game actually is based on. I should say I’ve never played it so I’ve never given it a chance but this book made it sound like a lot of fun and something worth checking out.
