Good characters, some torture and lots of battles

The character development is really good. i liked the back stories, the diversity of situations and how they all came together. i didn't quite get the "Gods" aspect. The prelude is a scene about the Gods but it starts mid-action and then we don't see them again until the last chapter or 2. i was too lazy to listen to the beginning again so I was a little lost when the god characters jumped into the story as if they had been a part of the book all along.

I wasn't totally endeared to any of the heroes/anti heroes. They were uniquely flawed- not easily relatable, but then, such is the case with battle driven fantasy. there is a torture scene about 2/3 into the book that is brutal- i turned the volume down so i could get the jist without 'living' the details. i found it worse than the white tower but it wasn't a long chapter.

i give it a b or b+. i enjoyed this book but i wish the whole "God's" thing was clearer.

Give it a chance!

I read a few negative reviews but decided to give this book a chance anyway. I'm glad I did. The story does go back and forth following different characters, but each of their stories is compelling and they are tied to each other. This becomes clearer as the story developes. As for the negative reviews about sex scenes, there are three short medium-heat sex scenes... get over it prudes! The story has an epic feel to it and I'm interested to see where it goes in the next book.

Well written but could have overall been better.

The book has a great story to it but I felt the the order in which it was delivered was severely lacking. The story jumped from one from character to character with no order or rhythm. Other than the rhythm and jumping of the store the writing and the concept was very good and entertaining. I really hope the next book it’s put together better.

Don’t get too attached!

A Demon in Silver was a bit of a patchwork of stories. The characters that the author tries to build and get the reader engaged often ended up dying for the sake of what? I’m not sure. I tried to like the book but it wasn’t in my top tier. The narrator did a good job of voices and keeping the story going but ultimately too many holes for me to find enjoyable.

Good but something missing

It’s a good book and a good story but it he jumps around so much. He doesn’t set up the story that well but a good book. I’m about to start the 2nd.

Great book, a little off

The book is exciting and I couldn’t stop reading the whole time. However, there was a few discrepancies, first the characters reactions are mostly underwhelming, and the world-building is a little choppy, trying to keep the twelve deities in mind was difficult. Other than this, the book was exceptional with great battle scenes and plot.

Really interesting read

The storyline is complex, the writing style is unique and the characters are really well developed. This was my first Ford novel. I can't wait for the next

interesting but meandering

With a solid performance and some decent prose this was a decent set up to a series. The only problem is that the book has a serious lack of direction until the final act.
