Trixie Belden - Girl Detective

The Trixie Belden series were my favorite books to read as a youngster. I am really excited that at least the first four are available for listening. The narrator is mostly pleasant when reading the text but some of the voices, eg: Honey, Bobby & Miss Trask, are horrid! Even though I don't appreciate the narrator, I hope that more of the titles in the Trixie Belden series become available soon. What a great girl sleuthing adventure series to read ~ OUTSTANDING to listen to!

fun revisit of one of my favorite childhood series

I loved Trixie Belden when I was a kid and jumped on the opportunity to revisit Trixie and her friends on Audible. The story is fun. I don't really care for the reader as her voice is shrill and she really mangles the voices of the different characters but that is the opinion of an adult. I probably would have loved the reader when I was a child.

Taking me back to my childhood

This was my favorite series when I was growing up. Unlike some of the books from back then, these have held up well.

This brought me back to my childhood!

I remember reading Trixie Belden books when I was in Junior High. I wanted to share these delightful mysteries with my Junior High aged son, and although the writing is obviously dated compared to what our children experience in reading these days, he thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had enough suspenseful moments and interesting twists, that it held his interest all the way through. The narrator did a fine job, but perhaps the editing needed some work, because it seemed that her voice was cut at the beginning of many sentences, and we often didn't get the full word, although we knew what the word was. I would recommend this full series to anyone with 5th - 9th graders. It will allow them to step back in time when movies and books didn't need gore, filthy language and sex in order to be interesting.
