About this listen

The hero Tungdil Goldhand vanished years ago. Until the gem-carver Goïmron discovers Tungdil's diary . . . and finds that the last entries are terrifyingly recent.

Goïmron gathers a small band of trusted companions, and they set off to find Tungdil and save Girdlegard from the mysterious Albae.

But the story's only half-over. Brabandor's on the trail of something extraordinary; Rodana is trying to change her fate, and Klaey remains an unknown quantity: his lust for power is unparalleled, and he'll do anything to get it. And the most worrying question of all . . . will their quest, change Goïmron himself?

The epic conclusion to the story begun in The Return of the Dwarves Book 1, filled with action, adventure, and a discovery that might change life in Girdlegard for everyone . . . forever.

Very Good Listen

Although I did enjoy the original narrator the new one is growing on me. The story itself is good and the knew characters are developing but like most movies the second go around fights hard to live up to the first . I would definitely recommend it.

Immersive and captivating

I had gotten used to and very much liked Neil Dickenson reading this series, but this narrator brought a new appreciation and brought the characters to life in a similar yet different fashion than Neil. Well done

A mediocre return

I was really excited to find out that Markus Heitz was doing a sequel to his Dwarves series. I was rather disappointed with what was presented. The Main Character feels like the male equivalent to the manic panic pixie dream girl (I guess that would be the misunderstood/outcast emo boy) and not heroic at all like Tungdil. There's a lot of "Tell don't show," prime example being the dwarf who likes to smoke a lot and has a pipe for every occasion, and the MCs relationship with Rhodonna. That brings up another point, the dwarf names in this series almost blend together, I had a hard time telling them apart, save for Gatta, Hargarina, Buvindyl, and Tungdil. That might be the fault of the narrator since most of the voices sounded similar. The narrator has a good voice, very pleasant to listen to, but not good at character voices. I also wasn't a fan of the profanity, it just felt very out of place and rather jarring. Like unpolished gem, I think this series has potential, but unless something changes with the quality, I'm not going to be finishing it.
