Publisher's summary

Greek mythology meets YA brilliance in this epic romance fans of Percy Jackson, the Everneath Series, and the Covenant Series will love!

A life not her own - a future already decided.

Every facet of Ivy Pierce's life is meticulously planned out. Cynical and jaded by 16, Ivy's only hope is to escape the legacy she was born into.

She has a plan, a carefully thought out escape plan. She just has to play by the rules until everything falls into place. Unfortunately, as predictable as her life can be, she never sees Ryder Sutton coming. He tumbles into her life, unimpressed and untouched by her and the rules she's forced to live by. He's an enigma to her. A gorgeous, frustrating, sincere mystery in the ugly prison of her life.

What blooms between them is a fiercely intense attraction that cannot be ignored. Even though they would both be better off without each other - even if both their lives depend on staying apart.

Tremendously well written story and the narration by Brittney Pressley is wonderful.

Love the story line and the suspense in this as well as the other two books in the series

Great story line.

Lately I have been on a Greek mythology kick. This one did not disappoint. I couldn’t wait to finish the 1st installment and start the next. Only downfall was the way that ended the story. It just kind of ended and needed the second book to pick where it ended but without the cliffhanger.

kept me on my toes

The story is great and I can't wait to download the next one. However, it would have been nice to of known in the beginning of the book as to what curse they were talking about.

I can't wait to find out how they handle everything in the next book though. I hope she is able to get out of her bad situation.

decent storyline

the storyline is a twist to the myths, which I always appreciate, but the writing is very... flowery, wordy...I listened to it at a higher speed. Also, I feel like it should come with a trigger warning.

Narrator is AMAZING

This was a sweet suspenseful story. Its different. it is very YA leaning more towards the young. But still very well written. You really feel for Ivy and what she's going through. Having this curse and hating it. Thinking her life is inescapable and doomed to live like the rest of her circle. Just having 1 person actually really care about her and see her actually SEE her is hard for her to comprehend. I am definitely getting the next in this series. Would like to see if she can escape, and find true real love that she deserves.

Again this is very well written. & the narrator is BOMB. She does so many different voices SO well. Her inflections even for male voices is spot on. Wish she read all the books I like. Very well done Brittany.

Worth it

Okay so the first few hours could have been condensed a lot. BUT the story was enticing enough that I powered through it. I had a feeling it would get better, and it did! I suggest listening to the first half at 1.2 speed.

You might not love the main character AT FIRST, but I promise it’s because you don’t understand her yet. I was worried I was listening to a book made for 13-15 year olds, until more is revealed and it turns out She’s not the spoiled kid acting out, but an abused one who is surviving yet starting to fight back.

The romance is good. Slow burn and I look forward to seeing what happens with that in the next book.

This series seems to have all the things I look for- a coming of age. A passionate love story that gets spicy but not raunchy. Friendship. Layers of mystery that have me ready to download and listen to book two right about…now.
