About this listen

A hot historical romance from USA TODAY best-selling author Jess Michaels

Annabelle Flynn is the sister of London's two biggest libertines, and her reaction has been to become the picture of purity. But the sensual nature of her family has not been lost on her, and she is troubled by urges she dare not follow. She ignores the demands of her body and instead throws herself into two different activities. One is pursuing a proper marriage in society and the other is trying to save her broken brother by following him into the shocking Donville Masquerade, part of a hell run by the mysterious Marcus Rivers.

By day, Annabelle pursues ladylike endeavors and seeks a staid husband to combat the wild reputations of her brothers. By night, she inserts herself into Marcus's business...and eventually she finds herself seduced into his bed.

But can a not-quite-proper lady and an entirely unsuitable cad find anything in common outside of the bedroom? And will Annabelle be willing to trade passion for cold, calculated "perfection"?

This book can be heard as a stand-alone novel, but is part of The Notorious Flynns series.

Wow...... no, realllly, WOW!

Story: Excellent! Predictable, more or less implausible and rather too much angst from the hero. But totally excellent anyway! I realllly truly enjoyed this book!

Narrator: Also excellent, her voice is soft but not whispery. I find there is nothing negative to say, just very very good.

Heat Factor: Fire extinguisher please! (yes, scorching)

A Raunchy Affair

It's a lusty tale of debauchery, carnal delights and it would have been better with a reader who could do more masculine voices. When proper Annabelle thought seeing a woman's calf was disrespectful, to mere weeks later being sodomized by her Marcus... my, my how times have changed.

Blush much?

Would you listen to The Scoundrel's Lover again? Why?

Yes if no one knew I was listening to it.

Would you recommend The Scoundrel's Lover to your friends? Why or why not?

Depends on the friend. If the friend thought 50 Shades of Grey was tame then absolutely I would recommend this book.

Which scene was your favorite?

That family busting in to the room.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Extreme reaction? My husband liked that I listed to this book.

Any additional comments?

First book in series although explicit in parts it was much more sweet and tame. A gentler love story. This was a man who has seen and done everything doing it to an innocent.

Erotic historical romance

Annabelle is ready to leave the wicked ways of her brothers now that one has become a duke. She's ready to marry up in society or so she thinks. She doesn't expect to be so attracted to the owner of the sex & gambling club, Marcus (who had been attracted to her for years) when looking for her brother at his club. It's a hot, sexually arousing, romance story. Worth my credit.

HOT sex alert

Passionate and HOT sex scenes, a super likable hero, and a less than desirable storyline sums this book up. I admit I finished this read in one day. Simply could not put it down. At the end though I have to say if you are looking for a great time filled with entertainment, then this is your stop, but if you are looking for a grand storyline with a complex plot and no passion, then move on.

Bring on those dark desires!

An honest tale of the desires felt by women. Society today still suffers from the notion that so-called "proper" women are not aroused by the same things that arouse men. Well done!

Steamy and sweet

Hot sex, likeable characters, great story.
Narration could have been better. Narrator was awful with the male voices.

Least favorite of the Flynns series

Having read Book 1 and 3, I was greatly disappointed with this book. The plot was uninteresting as were the characters. It was a though this book was written only for the sex scenes. The narrator did not help as her male voice lacks any affect or emotion.

Up on the SEXY scale from book 1!

This - the second installment of The Notorious Flynns - is definitely a notch up on the sexy scale. The story is not the best - felt like there needed to be a little something more in the way of a plot line, but as I have said before - sometimes just want a hot steamy sexy listen. I really liked Marcus, but never felt connected to Annabelle. I also thought the ending felt way rushed....but it was hot!

I'm already listening to the third book and I feel like it is going to surpass both its predecessors on the sexy scale!

I am enjoying these light easy listening respites from the more thought provoking books I listen to!
