About this listen

In this romantic tale in the Escape to France collection from bestselling author Fiona Valpy, Sara has one summer to make wedding wishes come true. But can she save her own happy-ever-after?

Revised edition: Previously published as The French for Always, this edition of The Season of Dreams includes editorial revisions.

Once upon a time, in an ancient château nestled above a golden river among the vineyards of Bordeaux, Sara and Gavin opened a wedding venue where fairy tales come true…But when Sara discovers Gavin in the arms of a wedding guest, their own happiness crumbles to dust. Faced with five beaming couples yet to say ‘I do’, she realises it’s up to her to host the rest of their first make-or-break season alone.

For the summer to go off without a hitch, Sara must bury her broken heart and her fear that she’ll soon be packing her bags for London, and lean on her local team of helpers. So when handsome Thomas Cortini, wine salesman and amateur DJ, crosses her path, Sara’s thrilled to draft in further reinforcements—and finally dares to hope the summer might not be a total disaster…

But with her life savings at stake, can Sara pull off a successful season, save her budding business and—just maybe—find her own happy-ever-after before the summer ends?

The beginning of the story was setting the stage for heartbreak both in Sara’s life and business. However, through determination and hard work Sara made the business thrive and found true love and a heartwarming family to be a member of.

The narrator Elizabeth has such a beautiful voice and does a really good job, but at times it is almost too pleasant, not enough inflection makes it easy to zone out, which might also be the writing, narrative of what she was reading at the time. I was really trying to listen, but even something as lovely and beautiful as she is can have a monotony. She does the different voices quite well though. A+ there.

The story itself is nice too maybe not the best I've ever read but it was enjoyable.

A nice story

Really good characters to get immersed in
Nice narration
Something easy to just get lost in

Great read

I was disappointed in the first book of the series. The narrator grated on me, and the story was boring. I barely made it through it.

I find that I either love a Fiona Valpy book or I profoundly do not.

This is Fiona at her best. The storyline kept me interested, and the narrator was excellent.

You will miss nothing by skipping the French for love I wish I had.

Unfortunately I found the story to be boring and predictable. Barely made it through. I let my audible ramble on while I did other things.

Fluff and Stuff

I am very fond of the author’s stories and assume I would have liked this one too, but the lack of range in the narration made it hard for me to get past the first few chapters.

Couldn’t get past the narration
