About this listen

With another chance at love, what could possibly go wrong?

Recovering from heartbreak, unlucky-in-love events manager Cara has vowed to avoid relationships. That is until fate throws her into the path of handsome and kind Henry, who is worlds apart from the men she’s dated before. Unfortunately, this encounter is short-lived when Cara misses her coach home—and with it, any chance of seeing him again.

But fate is not finished with the mismatched couple. When Cara quite literally bumps into Henry a second time at a work event, the run-in leaves them with feelings instead of bruises, and they can’t wait another day before seeing each other again. Yet it soon becomes clear how deeply different their worlds are: Cara’s drama-filled African and Caribbean family couldn’t be further from Henry’s family of wealthy lords and ladies.

With interfering relatives, problem friends, and an inconvenient ex-boyfriend attempting a comeback, everything seems stacked against the two new lovebirds. This is no straightforward love story—Cara and Henry will have to get creative with romance if they stand any chance of beating the odds to win their happy ever after.

The Second Time We Met is a hilarious and heartwarming romance, perfect for anyone who believes in second chances.

This heartwarming story is multi-cultural/-ethnic/-racial but is refreshingly not about that. Differences are noted and worked through. The story is about love and complications of relationships that affect all people. I recommend this sweet book.

I love this story of Henry and Cara. I love how they met, reconnected and built a friendship while sharing their cultures. My goal this year was to read about diverse people navigating love and life. So this was perfect. The supporting characters also reinforced that dynamics. This book was lighthearted and humorous as well as provocative. Great narration enhanced the authencity of their romance, family, conflict and resolution. What an enjoyable read!

HEARTWARMING ❤️

the author did a good job with character development. it was interesting learning about the female character's heritage. it put an interesting spin on the rom-con troupe.

For the best part of this book, it is good. However, it seems to me that the author thinks that women have no control of emotions or, the ability to convey their true thoughts, when it comes to the parts involving Ryan & Cara. I could understand it, maybe, if it had been an absence of months, but three years and she can't seem to stop his pushing into her life. Hmmm

I'M NOT SURE IF I'LL FINISH THIS BOOK

I loved this realistic taste of how we all live in our minds fighting our past experiences and sometimes blocking our future wonderful opportunities. This is the first book that I have read that reflects the Carribean migrant integrated family experience. The entwining of cultures and the introduction of a partner to your culture. I loved the part about mothers and mother Inlaw coming for an extended visit on a regular basis, the wonderful temporary integration of multiple generations under one roof. It has inspired me to attempt to share my American Carribean story.

Reflecting my culture

Remmie Milner did an amazing job! I lost count of how many different accents she performed. I definitely would not have gotten as much out of the book had I read it myself. Truly a performance, not just a narration. A+!

The story itself was as expected. We read these books because we know love always wins in them.

I didn't enjoy the storytelling/writing as much. It was only OK. I didn't like how a chapter would end and you'd expect the next chapter to be a continuation of the same storyline only to find out it was now 3 days later and the story moved on to something else. This could just be a personal preference but it felt choppy to me.

Amazing Narrator, OK writing
