Publisher's summary

Is there a secret space program that is connected in some way to UFOs? In this booklet, historian Richard Dolan delves into this question, one of the most discussed in ufology today. Providing a wealth of data and context for the listener, he offers his own conclusion: Yes, there is indeed such a program.

But this program is not a simple extension of the normal operations of the US government or military, much less of NASA. Instead, it seems to be the product of what Dolan has previously termed a “breakaway civilization”, a radically advanced and increasingly separate structure that has access to classified science and data denied to the rest of us.

Adapted from his classic lecture at the Secret Space Program and Breakaway Civilization conference in San Mateo, this is now offered as a volume in the Richard Dolan Lecture Series.

Robot narator îs terrible

I appreciate Richard Dolan's work. I will not buy another audio book narrated by a machine. The use of robots to narrate removes the human connection which is one of the unique and valuable features of audio books. Good bye robots

Okay but far from great

It is an entertaining little booklet. I have it in print. I knew what to expect. I like to read everything I can get by Richard Dolan even when it isn't great. The narrator is barely tolerable and contributes nothing positive to the listening experience.

Excellent book.

Short book at less than 2 hours, but full of good info on such an interesting topic

This is read by an AI narrator bot

The narrator is obviously a bot. This is disgraceful. It ruined a concise and informative lecture/book. I doubt Richard Dolan even knows about this given his opinion on Artificial Intelligence. Audible should disclose when this happens before you buy the book. I will be contacting customer service to attempt to get a refund. If you do decide to buy this, help the world by informing other potential buyers by writing a review.

Substantially Free on YouTube

This is a lecture adapted from one that is free on YouTube. The free version presumably has the images that the audible version mentions (but which, of course, you don’t get to see). In addition, the free version was actually presented by the author. This is read to you by a computer. They’ve come a long way since the first phone company computer voices but still annoying.

AI generated narration and not done well…

I usually love a topic like this but there wasn’t much revealed but conjecture and speculation. But what really got me was that I could barely focus as chapter to chapter all i could hear was the less than stellar AI generated narrator destroying the written words. From the abysmal inflections and mispronunciations to the apparent lack of a final proof “reader”, this is one of the worst books I’ve listened to. It’s such a shame too because I’ve seen this author on various programs and was really looking forward to him going into some detail as he does in television documentaries and interviews. This computer generated voice made this book rubbish…
