Twenty actors, sound effects, and a musical score bring this full cinematic audiobook to life.
In 1969, a group of genetically enhanced teens is unleashed upon an already hectic world. These kids—these “Shadows”—begin violently reshaping political landscapes, from Vietnam to the civil rights struggle. Standing a cut above her peers is a girl named Erin Escalante. Having grown jaded with the life of an assassin, she and her closest allies are ready to finally use their skills for the greater good. Standing in their way is the organization that created them, and the seemingly unstoppable army of monsters at their disposal.

The author, Steven Cortinas once again provides an entertaining book filled with unlikely heroes and situations. Building a story around such characters is well done and exciting. The dialogue was well done and sounded authentic a did the characters and their relationship.
The narrator, Isheba Renee takes the lead in narration and the lead character of Erin is performed by Andrea Barthel. Barthel gives a solid performance as Erin. The other narrators each assume individual characters capturing their essence and moving the story forward steadily and consistently. Using their wide range of voices, they are able to keep the story moving forward.
Overall this audiobook is interesting with the twist of adding in children and the storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and look forward to the next in the series by Cortinas and his team of performers. While I am not a fan of theatrical performances, Cortinas has done an excellent job of bringing everything together smoothly and blending the storyline, characters, and theatrical performance together well.
There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook. It was well done.

Well you're in luck, the beauty of this series is, each book stands on it's own, making it easy for anyone to jump in and start wherever they like. Of course, there are numerous connections to be made to the series as a whole, but consider that icing on the preverbal cake because you know once you listen to one, you'll have to hear them all!
Tell your sister to stop smacking her gum and your mother to hold her applause til the end; you wont wanna miss a single word these talented and entertaining performers bring to the audio-table.
