About this listen

They believed humans were weak - until her.

The aliens ruling over the galaxy knew humans were compatible with their species, but they never expected to find a match quite so perfect for their Emperor.

Lena should have been nothing more than an incubator - she was supposed to have the Emperor's child, and then get back to her life.

But then, they made the mistake of threatening that child...

The Emperor's Mate is a standalone sci-fi romance following three stories - previously published as Rise, Rage, and Rule between 2015 and 2016. It has been re-edited. Expect swear words and some adult situations.

alien love

At first I had a little hard time following the story but once I got into it I was all over it. I love these two narrorators they always make the story so much better with the making each individual character their own. I'm always out for new sci fi romance and once I got into the story I enjoyed it but wanted to know more of some if the other characters so hopefully I'll get more of them.

Loved it

The Emperor's Mate was a fascinating Sci-Fi alien novel that I just could not put down. I really enjoyed it. This novel has separate stories in one and loved how they all blended together. While the story was Sci-fi it was so much more than just alien world. It was about finding your mate and each story had a separate couple's search for their mate. The novel was very descriptive with wonderful characters. The storyline was fast paced and action-packed.
I listened to the audible version of this novel narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. These two were able to bring the story to life and they did an excellent job of voicing the many different characters. Although the story itself is very descriptive these two were able to bring out the characters and the story so much more that I could clearly picture what was happening. I loved it.
This was an excellent story and I would highly recommend this audible to all sci-fi lovers.

An intriguing romance in an imaginary world

This is the first time I read a May Sage book. I was not sure what to expect when I first started listening. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily the world and Aliens were to imagine. Ms. Sage vividly described every detail to bring the scene and characters to your minds eye. Although the book is a Sci-fi book, it is not overbearing and so farfetched that it is hard to relate to.

Lena and Calden was my favorite couple. I could relate to Lena and her motherly instincts. I loved following her growth from just a breeder to a mother. The way Calden found his mate, Lena, is like a matchmaking game, but with DNA. Calden, being a strong leader, was easily attracted to Lena, who was an equally strong woman.

Tor Thom and Charley Ongel are a perfect compliment to the story. Tor Thom distunguished the many male characters with ease. The different pitches and accents Mr Thom used were perfectly chosen for each character and how I would have imagined that character. Charley Ongel is a wonderful contrast to Mr Thom's deep baritone voice. Ms Ongel brought out each female character's attitude and emotion with her narration. Together, Mr Thom and Ms Ongel enhanced the story and created a movie within my mind's eye.

Great

This was a fun escape into a well thought out universe. I love the fact I can’t track where we’re going with the storyline. I definitely wouldn’t mind more in this universe. We can all use more dragons in our lives.

Loved it!

The author had a great imagination and Tor Thom with Charley Ongel was fantastic narrating this one. The Emperor was cold and detached and he never made snap decisions. They were the Claydons that produced their own children, but lately they were either insane or they didn’t live lone. That is why human females were brought in and called breeders. They called the humans suckers because they believed they sucked the earth dry. Then Lena came into their site. She was a perfect mate for the Emperor. Lena had a child by the Emperor and they had a son named Eric. Things got complicated on earth for them and the Emperor and Lena worked together to protect him. Eric get a story at the end. Don’t miss this one.

Great book! I love how it skipped ahead to tell the stories of the characters mentioned that impacted the majority of the scenes. However, I think 40 years is a long time to wait for your soulmate to come around. That’s a bit unrealistic.

Incredible world, great characters 🔥 and awesome narration!

Science fiction is generally not my thing, but this story completely drew me in. The love stories inside of the sci-fi drew me in, but the world building was phenomenal. I felt transported into another world and I really liked it. To call it vivid is putting it mildly. The characters were also all amazing and interesting, but my favorite was Lena. She’s just a badass and her strength was one of her best attributes. Who doesn’t love a strong heroine? This book was different, incredibly, well done, and fun! Add to that some steam and it’s most definitely worth a listen.

Duo Tor Thom and Charley Ongel did an awesome job bringing these stories to life. Tor Thom was great giving so many different characters their own distinct voice or accent. Plus, him doing a Scottish accent was the best thing ever. Charley Ongel was just as great. I really liked the way she gave each female character their own special type of strength. Her voice can be soothing, lovely, yet fierce. Just like the characters. Overall a great, fun listen.

Adventurous stories

This book is a compilation of three stories. It tells the stories of aliens finding their true human mates. This story contains lots of action, angst, danger, comic moments, and several twists and turns. May Sage does have a vivid imagination and gives her characters their own personalities and adventures. Tor Thom and Charley Ongel do a fantastic job of bringing these numerous characters to life and giving each one their own unique voice. Tor's Scottish accent is mesmerizing. I asked to receive this Audible book and voluntarily wrote this unbiased review. Sci-fi fans will love this Audible book. The narrators will immediately draw you in to this world of adventure.

3-in-1

I'm a huge fan of the dynamic duo that is Tor Thom & Charley Ongel. I'll listen to books that I may not normally be interested in simply because they are the narrators. This is one of those books. I enjoyed the story but I felt like it was a little hard to follow. It jumped around a bit & the endings seemed to end abruptly.
