About this listen

Ex-policeman and rare books dealer Cliff Janeway travels to remote Paradise , Colorado , where cops and crooks alike are as infernal as the weather. Janeway has agreed to help Laura Marshall, a friend of his bookstore partner, who's accused of murdering her husband.

While Janeway tries to gather the facts, he pulls long shifts standing watch over the Marshall home, filled with books signed by their celebrity authors. When a shifty pair of alleged book dealers turns up, and Janeway begins to suspect that Laura's son is hiding critical information, the case becomes a maze of clues and increasing danger.

Quintessential whodunnit

This is full of the twists and turns, ups and downs that make whodunnits so enjoyable. Initially I got it because I love most everything narrated by George Guidell . I was not familiar with the author. Now that I am, I’ll be looking for more titles by him.

This is a great mystery and a real, page turner

The five novels in the Cliff Janeway series are among the best ever written. They get better and better through the series.

Twists and Turns

I really love this writer and and I love his Cliff Janeway character more. Also there is no better narrator than George Guidall. Get all the books in the series; they are wonderful from beginning to end.

Engaging

I read this many years ago and became addicted to Dunning's books. I regret that he doesn't write more. If you like books and like adventure you can't ask for more.

Signed but a second edition

I have read all of the Janeway series. This has been my least favorite so far. I have another yet to go but I was a little dissappointed. The story was good. The theme was good. The ideas were good. Everything was good. I just really have a high standard and expect great.

Good story line

Most of the Bookman series have been good books. Nothing outstanding, just really good listens.

Unconvincing

I really enjoyed Dunning's first 2 books. This started well, but the ending just wasn't convincing. I felt taken advantage of.
