About this listen

The end of the world is here...

Unlocking the secret of the Seven Ancient Wonders was only the beginning.

From the international best-selling author comes another blockbuster - simultaneously released with the print edition.

The world is in mortal danger. For Jack West Jr. and his loyal team of heroes, the challenge now is to set six legendary diamonds known as 'the Pillars' in place at six ancient sites around the world before the deadline for global destruction arrives. The locations of these sites, however, can only be revealed by the fabled Six Sacred Stones. Their quest will involve the death-defying hijack of a mountaintop railway in China... A midnight expedition to Stonehenge... A headlong chase across the deserts of Egypt... And a trek into the dark realm of an African tribe forgotten by time.

With only the riddles of ancient writers to guide them, and time rapidly running out, Jack and his team must fight their way past traps, labyrinths and a host of deadly enemies - knowing that this time they cannot, will not, must not fail. The mission is incredible. The consequence of failure is unimaginable. The ending is unthinkable.

The Ride of Your Life

Woo Hoo! Hang on to your hat.

The action starts on the first page and the momentum keeps building through the whole book. I'm not usually a fan of adventure stories but Matthew Reilly is a great storyteller. Thoroughly recommend it.

Indiana Jones meets The Lord of the Rings

This is an Indiana Jones meets The Lord of the Rings style action adventure novel. Jack West Jnr, Lily and their team of super soldiers are up against the Caldwell Group led by Jack's narcissistic father intent on gaining power, a team of Japanese soldiers intent on the destruction of the world and a cannibalistic African tribe with a royal son claiming Lily for a wife. They need to put the six stones in place to prevent the End of the World. A great listen and an even better read.

Love Your Work!!

Just the right mix of fiction and realism backed up with some obviously painstaking research. Totally ready for the next exhilarating episode.

Aaargh! This cliffhanger sux

This JW Jr story was as fast paced & full of action, as the Scarecrow series. I just couldn't put this down & enjoyed the rush of adrenaline & heart stopping moments & twists right the way through.

I did feel in the last 20-30pages that the story ending was being a tiny bit rushed. But then, in only the way MR does he left us with a terrifying cliffhanger that was just outright mean for the reader..... I mean come on... we just have to know Jack with have some kind of twist in his fate, that saves him. I can't wait a year or so to learn his ultimate fate & the fate of mankind! You have a really wicked streak in you MR.... but that's part of why we love you & your vibrant characters.

Hurry up with the next Jack West Jr saga please ;)

Melodramatic & contrived.

I stopped listening to this during the second chapter, as was determined to give it a go. I wanted "airport trash", but over the top for me.

Narrator kills it

The author introduces characters at suspence points but then go into a long history about the character, this slows the story down and is frustrating. But you will not get so far as to experience that because the narrator kills the story. I could not go past two hours, tried four times and no joy.
