About this listen

Fans of quirky, irreverent yuletide humor will screech with delight at Clarence the slug's Christmas adventure! A rude letter from a greedy child makes Santa go a bit bonkers - but it's Christmas Eve and the elves are desperate for someone to deliver all the presents! The Elf Doctor comes up with a completely mad plan to save the day - and soon the fate of Christmas depends on one giant slug! Will Clarence save the day, or will everybody's Christmas be a slime-covered nightmare? The Slug That Saved Christmas also contains a previously unreleased story - "Clarence the Slug's Lost Adventure" - along with two Hairy Tales stories ("The Walrus Story" and "Shipwreck'd Sarah"), plus a sizeable extract from The Easter Bunny Invasion!

Good kids stories

The collection of short stories is very enjoyable. My son and I listened to them and laughed a good bit. I actually found the pirate short story more entertaining than the main slug story. Highly recommend for
Kids of all ages.I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

A fun and silly pre-Christmas story

Where does The Slug That Saved Christmas rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Kids will certainly enjoy it - it's full of yucky sliminess and no, perhaps its not a conventional christmas tale (more farcical like monty python in places), but adults will enjoy it also. Roald Dahl and David Walliams is a guide to what you can expect.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Probably the Elf Doctor - he's more than a little confused.

Which character – as performed by Sheree Wichard – was your favorite?

As above.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it's best in chapters and chunks.

Any additional comments?

British humour - weird and unpredictable, but still a very good Christmas story.

Sadly not at all a YOUNG children story

I sat listening to this with my daughters who ate 3 and 5. Not to far in I realized this was really not s story for young children. Perhaps for older kids they would find it both funny and enjoyable but for my little ones they just could not understand why Santa went crazy and why everyone talked with mean voices. So parents beware sensitive little ones this is not for at all. I received this book at no charge in exchange for an honest review. Young children take a pass older kids a definite maybe? Personally I myself didn't like the idea of a Christmas land with mean elves and a Santa that goes off the rails. I guess I'm too old fashion and like my Christmas stories to have sweet happy things in them.
