About this listen

Sharp claws keep you safe.

That’s the brutal lesson Thorne learned as a young wolf-shifter. Abandoned as a child, singled out by an evil uncle, and then forced to work for the ruthless Order of the Well, Thorne’s anger was a weapon as much as his claws. Now a vicious Fae Guardian, he hunts monsters, the human enemy, and anything that gets in his way. On a mission to find his missing mentor, Thorne finds himself suddenly mated to Laurel, a beautiful, driven, but damaged human awoken from a time long since past.

A forced marriage is something neither of them want. But everything they need.

Spending time with her teaches him that arm’s length might not be a good thing. Learning to love will mean scratching the surface of both their souls, revealing truths more painful than any wound. If he can get past the hurt, the pain, and the pride, Thorne will find a new use for his claws...to bury deep and never let her go.

But, when a dark figure from Laurel's past catches up with her, it's not Thorne's claws in question. It's hers. If he can't stop her from exacting bitter revenge, she'll cost him the safety of his mentor and perhaps trigger a war. If he can learn to put his angry past behind him, open his heart and trust new friends, he just might be rewarded with more than an advantage in their ongoing war. He'll find love.

A gripping, new style of epic fantasy with steamy romance featuring a dash of time travel, monster hunting, fated mates, shifters, Fae protectors, and their strong willed women from our time. If you love your books full of pause-resisting action, intrigue, and romantic tension, then this audiobook is for you. For fans of Kristen Ashley's Fantastical series or Sarah J. Maas's adult fantasy romance.

Amazing book. HORRIBLE female narrator.

I love the story. Unfortunately female narrator sounds horrible for this type of book.

Good story horrible female narrator

The story was good and the make narrator did a good job however, the female narrator butchered the male voices. Thank goodness there was a male narrator that did a lot of it otherwise this would have gone into the DNF pile. She was ok for the female.

Loved the book!

I love this series, however, in this book, I did not like the female narrator. Tom Thor did good. But she annoyed me with her voice.

Not too bad at all

This book started off a little rocky, but throughout it got better and better. Happy listening.

Great story/not my favorite narrators

So I really liked this book as well as the first book in the series. It has a good story line and some decent spice. I already liked the main male character of the story due to him already being in the first book. However, it took a while for me to warm up to the main female character, but I did. The author definitely has a grasp of old school fae lore. I look forward to the rest of the series

Really like it!

I felt like the story was pretty original and I liked the characters. I quite enjoyed the male voice, but the female voice had a constant lilt that made it unrealistic. I get what she was trying to achieve but it didn’t work out very well. Instead of coming off as a dreamy kind of voice it ended up with the character sounding airheaded and sometimes confused with her inflection. And her switching to different characters was a little rough. BUT don’t let that dissuade you from the book. It wasn’t bad enough for me to not be able to continue. I just got over it and let myself enjoy the story regardless.

Good story.

Good story, well written. Did NOT enjoy the narrators. The male narrator ended every sentence with the same inflection, almost made me stop listening.

Great Story Horrible Narration

I loved the story. It was good and well developed but these narrators had me rolling my eyes more than once. They didn’t pronounce words the same or follow the same emotion when recounting the same conversations. Outside of that. The build up was great.

Read, don't listen

Fantastic story, fantastic characters, fantastic world-building, fantastic male narrator. The female narrator, however, is singlehandedly the worst narrator I've ever heard. I've never left a review and had to leave one for this narrator if that tells you how bad she is. She sounds like this is a side job and her main employment is as the voice for automated phone systems. She might as well have been saying "Press 1 for store hours and location; Press 2 for the pharmacy department;" for as much emotion as she put into this novel. Every single sentence of her narration goes up in inflection at the end like a question.....but not. Also, her "guy voice" sounded exactly like Patty and Selma from The Simpsons. 10/10 Recommend this book. 0/10 Do NOT recommend this narrator.
