About this listen

Along came The Spider.

They called me a freak.

They called me a loser.

They tormented me and made my life a living nightmare when all I had ever wanted was to be left alone.

And five years ago, after a lifetime of being bullied and harassed, of enduring more pain and trauma than any man could handle, that's exactly what I set out to do.

I left the only home I'd ever known to lock myself behind the cemetery gates and care for the only people who have ever given me the peace I craved—the dead.

But just as I'd started to feel comfortable, an unexpected stranger broke into my house and fell into my web of reclusive safety, and somehow, opened my eyes to love and the possibility that I just might have the strength to weather the storm after all.

From the bestselling author of Saving Rain comes a bittersweet, heartbreaking story about a broken cemetery caretaker and the woman who gave him shelter from life's constant storm.

First, if your looking for smut or spicy this isn't the book for you. It's told in the perspective of an anxious guy. It switches between present day and the past until the stories all converges together. Basically two stories in one. I personally loved hearing about Charlie's tragic past and it made the shotgun romance more believable. This made me cry more times than smile but it was an amazing read.

Nontraditional romance, heartbreaking and sweet

I like the story but the main characters voice is very robotic. It's odd because the action sections are much more comfortable but the minute Charlie speaks It feels like he has almost no emotion. Couple of "Goblet of fire!" moments. IYKYK

Story? Good. Voice Acting? Very Meh

Kelseyyyyy- whyyyyyy? My heart broke and broke again and broke again and then felt healed. This story and Soldiers live rent free in my head now. The realness of the characters, the anxiety, the struggle to live with grief- all of it made this such a good read.

Grief and anxiety never hurt so good
