About this listen

In Fiasco, Kentucky, there is one rule: never fall for a Foxx brother. Any woman who did, ended up dead—or so the rumor goes. Townies call it a curse. But I’ve lived it, and I won’t survive it again.

I’m not a cop anymore, but I’ve seen enough danger to know that Laney Young, the beautiful stranger who just showed up in my small town, is running from it. She’s lying about where she came from and what she’s doing here.

I don’t want her near my family or the quiet life I’ve made for myself. But my brothers have other plans. Now she’s everywhere–working at my distillery, living in our guest house, calling me ‘cowboy’ and skinny-dipping in my horse trough.

But it’s the way she dishes out attitude from that pretty mouth of hers that has me wanting things I’ve sworn to myself I’d never want again. I should push her away, forget how her lips taste, and ignore how she makes me want more out of life again.

When her past shows up and mingles too closely with mine, her lies begin to unravel. The rules don’t matter anymore. I mess up, dig too far, and get too close. Only two things have the power to keep her safe now: bourbon and lies.

5/5 sweet as honey stars!

An already 5 star read that I could not WAIT to experience again in audio somehow got even better. Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor are 2 of the most elite narrators and this performance was a true and total KNOCKOUT. There’s just something about hearing some of your favorite characters being brought to life expertly. The way that they DELIVERED and left ZERO crumbs as Grant and Laney was everything I could have hoped for and then some.

I was beyond ecstatic to be back in Fiasco, this series and it’s complete and total CHOKEHOLD on me since I read it the first go round hasn’t lost its sparkle. If anything? This audio has just elevated it even more. These bourbon boys are truly something remarkable and this incredibly special cast of characters is can’t miss. I have shouted from the rooftops how insanely fabulous this series is for months now and I hope this audio gives it even more reach. If you haven’t made your way to Kentucky, you absolutely need to do it now. Let Samantha and Connor lead the way.

Grant Foxx and Laney Young are thrust into each others lives under circumstances beyond either of their control and as we watch both of their wounded souls become intertwined its literal magic. Zoltar magic. I love everything about this series, everything about these characters, everything about Victoria’s writing. These Foxx boys know EXACTLY what they’re doing. 5/5 sweet as honey stars.

Good Book

Bourbon & Lies is a small town romance. Laney is the new girl in town & Grant is the home town bourbon boy. Ths is book is very good. the audio is so great.

I liked the part when Laney stood up to some guy at the bar. I like the day after the first time they had sex. I liked the fist fight Grant had. These two are kinky, I like it. I really liked the story in this book.

Connor Crais & Samantha Brentmoor did an awesome job voicing everyone one. It was wonderful to hear them bringing the whole world come alive.

Loved it!

Tension. Suspense. Banter. This was my first book from Victoria and I loved it. From start to finish I was pulled into this book. On the run from something that happens in her past she ends up staying with the Foxx brothers in hiding. Grant grumpy and closed off from events that happened in his past. The sparks fly immediately between these two, and I loved all of the verbal sparring and flirty banter between these two and how she just said what was on her mind and fit in with the town and his family. There are some twist and turns and I could not put this one down once I started listening.

Samantha was great at portraying her no nonsense attitude while also expressing her vulnerabilities with worrying her past would catch up to her. Connor does great at portraying Grant’s grumpy “cowboy” personality and his struggles of dealing with his trauma from his past. I loved hearing these two portray the flirty tension filled banter between the characters.

This series is starting off HOT! 🔥🔥

Story - ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Spice - 🌶 🌶
Narration - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Bourbon & Lies is book #1 in The Bourbon Boys series. There are so many good things going on with this story, I hope I cover them all. Grant Foxx - retired K-9 officer, rich, grieving a lost love that he couldn't protect, and partner in the Foxx Bourbon business. Laney Young - city girl, event planner, crossed a monster (serial killer), and now is in an unofficial WITSEC situation. While Laney is able to charm everyone around her (even the dog), Grant has questions and not many answers. These two have built mighty walls around themselves and try to avoid the attraction. Fail. Love the interactions between the brothers and Grizz, love the side characters who I hope we see stories on later (Hayden specifically), and found myself binging this listen to get to the whodunnit ending. I am really excited for this new series!!

The duet narration was awesome. Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor brought the passion and intense connection between their characters. Loved these two together. 5/5 stars!!

When the narration has you hooked right from the start..

I enjoyed the witty banter, found family, and animal love 🐶 so much. This was also a great intro into the rest of the series because I ended up loving the side characters just as much as the MC’s. I absolutely can’t wait to listen to their stories!

But while I LOVED the characters, the story line wasn’t my favorite and it was a bit predictable. The suspense didn’t have me on my toes and I think the narration is what kept my attention for the most part.

I still highly recommend this book and give it a high rating because I really did enjoy it and it made me laugh out loud. I’m definitely glad I listened to the audio because Samantha and Connor will NEVER not be amazing. Trust me on that. 🫶🏼🎧

AMAZING!

I loved this book SOOOO much!! I'm obsessed with these Foxx brothers and cannot wait to read more! I love romantic suspense and this one did not disappoint. This was my first book by Victoria and it absolutely will not be the last.

Grant experienced a tragedy and has sworn off women until Lainey shows up in his town. There was an instant attraction there no matter how much he tried to fight it. I LOVED how Lainey sassed him and was not afraid to give it back to him. She was a strong woman too. The banter between them was amazing... literally everything I needed and more. This was a slow burn but once it lit, it was absolute fireworks. They are perfect for each other. I cannot recommend this book enoughhhh!!! All the stars!

🎧Audio Review:🎧
This was duet narration by Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor. These two narrating together is absolutely perfection. Connor Crais with a country accent is something I didn't know I needed but now I need more! He played grumpy Grant SO well. Samantha was perfect at bringing the sass that is Lainey. They both totally nailed it. I loved it! I highly recommend this audiobook.

Welcome to FIASCO! Hang on tight!🔥🔥🔥

WOW! Welcome to Fiasco, ya'll. I drank up every single second of this audio. I absolutely LOVED this story & the narration was seriously something on another level! This book is the perfect balance of small-town goodness & mystery with sultry secrets. It is absolutely addicting & I was sprinting to the finish line. Victoria gives you a sexy, mysterious vibe that's absolutely delicious. Every character added something special to this story & I am DYING to get the rest of the Foxx brothers stories!

Laney is on the run from a past that just keeps haunting her. She lands in Fiasco, KY. Grant Foxx is the last person she'd expect would pay attention to her. He keeps to himself, is grumpy & closed off. Laney has absolutely no intention of getting close to anyone either. Her situation seems temporary. But Grant is the first one who truly appreciates her fiery spirit, her sassy ways & can sense she's got a story to her past. But does Laney feel the same way?

The tension is SO think between these two. Talk about electric chemistry! You can actually feel the sexual tension these two have for one another. It is absolutely palpable! It's just oozing with flirty talk & dirty banter. The secrets lurking around from the corners of the past keep you on the edge of your seat folks! I mean, these Foxx brothers are what small-town dreams are made of.

🎧Let's talk narration: I HONESTLY can't picture anyone else voicing these characters other than Samantha & Connor. You can just hear it in their performances, that this was a fun audio to perform & get into. I LOVE small town romance so much & there's just no one better to give you a sassy FMC with a twangy drawl than Sam. She just charms the pants right off ya! At least she did, Grant!😏 She sounds so effortless, giving life to Laney. From strolling into town with a fiery spirit to voicing multiple characters & even the kids, she's a one woman show. It was the little things she added to this performance that made it stand out for me. The vulnerability she gives to Laney was AMAZING & with Connor by her side. It just makes this audio an absolute MUST you guys! I was blown away by the multiple men he voiced. Each with their own distinctive voice & personality & GRANT FOX ya'll!!!! Whew!🔥 He was PERFECT! From his grumpy tone to his swoooony & down right naughty ways, Connor just makes Grant absolutely irresistible. It's Craismoor baby & they are HOT & OH, SO freaking good! This one absolutely needs to be experienced on audio! Amazing performances & a story that's incredible.

Not your honey, cowboy.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love this book more… bam! Samantha and Connor come in and have me hooked from the start!

Laney has to leave her life behind to come to Fiasco. She needs to keep who she is a secret and lay low, but that proves difficult when she finds acceptance. Friendship. And a grumpy cowboy she can’t stop thinking about and who doesn’t stop thinking about her either.

I loved their meet cute and the tension. Connor is unsurprisingly perfect as Grant, in how mistrustful he is of her at first, how obsessed he becomes with her over time, in how he fantasizes about her. In how he wants to keep her safe. And I think he has single-handedly changed my mind about the “honey” pet name.
And Samantha… I swear, every time she called Grant “cowboy,” she had me grinning. When she said, “Not your honey, cowboy,” she embodied Laney’s strength and sass, and I seriously cannot think of anyone else who would be better for this role than her.

While staying at the ranch, Laney pushes all of Grant’s buttons without even trying. Their banter was top-notch. Their connection was even better. And when he starts romancing her by just being himself… Come on, Connor. That was not fair!
When the slow burn burns this hot, you know it’s going to be explosive. The bourbon scene. The kitchen scene when Laney shows she knows what she wants and “Drink up, honey.” Connor and Sam… I have no words.

I loved all the emotions that came through from them. How they shifted each other’s worlds upside down. How they both started really living when they first met. How they started trusting and loving each other—there was a sweetness there that sounded so good! And yes, duet was perfect because it pulled me in even more.

I need to mention the accents because I loved them so much. And, as always, how I could easily tell which character was talking, even though there are quite a few secondary characters in the book. Sheer talent, people.

Laney is one strong heroine, and that really shines through. And when her past catches up to her, Grant is there for her at every turn and unwilling to ever let her go, but she still saves herself. Just like Kathleen Turner (IYKYK).

Sweet and spicy, fun, and totally captivating with a hint of suspense… I loved this audiobook.
