About this listen
Things aren't going well for Slippery Jim diGriz. First there was the robbery of the Mint on Paskönjak that went terribly wrong, and then that little matter of a death penalty, and an extremely unpleasant execution after that. And last but not least, there's the deal Slippery Jim cuts with the authorities, which, on reflection, doesn't look much better than slow death.
In exchange for his life, Slippery Jim must retrieve a missing alien artifact from the planet Liokukae - a dumping ground for the Galactic League's misfits, murderers, maniacs, and the incurably obnoxious. Under cover as the leader of the rock band The Stainless Steel Rats, Slippery Jim violates every law of the land - including the musical ones. He has 30 days to bring back the artifact... or the slow-acting poison the League has fed him will kick in, and Slippery Jim diGriz will be history.

Story
The planet was called Felicity. The name was a joke, except for those compelled to settle there. Inhabiting it were beings bred for thousands of years for a single purpose: to attack and kill. Jason knew this. But he also knew the planet on which he lived was moving toward certain disaster. And Felicity was the only spot in the universe where he and his companions could survive. He thought he had worked out the perfect plan. But what awaited him on Felicity went far beyond his wildest imagining.

Story
Skeeve is a magician’s apprentice (and a wanna-be thief) until an assassin’s bolt kills his master, Garkin. Along with Aahz, the green-scaled, purple-tongued demon and master magician summoned by Garkin, he sets out on a quest to get even. The road to vengeance is bound to prove rocky, however, because Skeeve can barely light a candle with his beginning magic, and Aahz has lost his own considerable magical abilities as a consequence of Garkin’s summoning spell.

Story
Sixty-five million years ago, a disastrous cataclysm eliminated three quarters of all life on Earth. Overnight, the age of dinosaurs ended. The age of mammals had begun. But what if history had happened differently? What if the reptiles had survived to evolve into intelligent life? In West of Eden, best-selling author Harry Harrison has created a rich, dramatic saga of a world where the descendants of the dinosaurs struggled with a clan of humans in a battle for survival.

You were on your way home when you died. It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me. And that’s when you met me." A short story about the universe.

We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

I love Harry Harrison!
I have been reading Harry Harrison for 2 decades now. I truly enjoy whatever story I read, the writing always matches the pace of my reading. The audio book matches my reading tempo and the flair added by Phil Gigante reading the book and singing the songs adds great depth!

A classic
An amazing job by the narrator, this series is absolutely brought to life by his ability to make each line pop. and the series itself is one that is a *must read*.

Phil Gigante sings the blues
My favorite part of this audible was hearing Phil sing, a man of many talents.

Time to stop.
I was torn. I love the rat and want more stories, but the author seems to have hit the wall at this point. This one was ok at best and if you aren't a big fan you might not want to spend a cresit on this one.

Full of twists and turns.
I am a big fan of The Rat. it is nice to follow the main character into different worlds in which he has to learn and think himself out of trouble.
This story is more of a mystery than an action adventure. I like the variety of environments that the author adds to each of the books. Some would prefer action/adventure for these books, but I am impressed with the creativity in the variety that the author has chosen for this character.

This Sucks!
Absolutely terrible accents a single characters changing from Mexican to Swedish in the same sentence. The scenes have less details in them that the pop-up bubbles in a graphic novel. I couldn't get through more than 10 minutes. Good luck trying to listen this one
