About this listen

After narrowly rescuing Davis and barely escaping with their lives, Ezekiel and his comrades embark on a perilous journey across the high seas in search of his lost brother, Zeldren. However, they're pursued relentlessly by adversaries from all corners: the formidable church, the calculating Tal'Dar, and the enigmatic Emerald Court, each driven by their own nefarious motives.

As they navigate treacherous waters, our heroes must confront enormous sea monsters, ruthless pirates, devious demons, and the formidable royal first fleet. Yet amidst the chaos, a glimmer of hope emerges as Ezekiel unveils ancient magic long forgotten by the world.

In a breathtaking tale of courage and magic, join Ezekiel and his companions as they battle against insurmountable odds using fists, alchemy, prayer, shadows, claws, and powerful summons.

The Summoner: Sea of Lost Memories invites you to immerse yourself in a classic saga of swords and sorcery.

Book 2 of The Summoner, Sea of Lost Memories, is a solid continuation of the series. It feels like a lot happened—new characters were introduced, and more history and perspectives came to light—but at the same time, the story moved so quickly that it felt like not quite enough had changed by the end. Compared to the first book, this installment almost feels like a “bottle episode”: focused, contained, and more introspective, but with less forward momentum. That said, I’m still invested in the world and characters, and I look forward to the revelations and developments to come in the next installment.

Continuing the adventure after the first book, multi-talented Ben unfolds and presents additional darker layers in this world of magic and mystery. Providing consistent and now recognizable unique voices to each of the characters, Ben's tale of loss and treachery is narrated expertly with a comfortable and careful progression. While most of the action takes place at sea, through dialogue and discovery we are learning more about the inner workings of this land's powers and those that seek to rule it. The Summoner series combines modern day wit and retort with classical fantasy settings and a variety of creatures sure to keep the listener intrigued and anticipating the next move. A worthy sequel setting up the next leg in the journey. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 1.85x]
