About this listen

“Shades of The Hunger Games permeate a story centered around two courageous teens determined to buck all odds in an effort to regain their loved ones...Arena One builds a believable, involving world and is recommended for those who enjoy dystopian novels, powerful female characters, and stories of uncommon courage.” (Midwest Book Review)

A bundle of books one and two in the survival trilogy, the number one best-selling series!

New York. 2120. America has been decimated, wiped out from the second Civil War. Survivors, far and few between, join violent gangs, predators who live in the big cities. There is only one rule to their stadium, where opponents are made to fight to the death: No one survives. Ever.

10 years makes a big difference

okay so when this book came out back in 2012 I read the book and absolutely loved it, waited forever for arena 2 and read that book also. I never got to Arena 3 cuz it took too long to come out. So I decided to go back and listen to the audio versions of Arena 1 and Arena 2 before going on to Arena 3. So first, in 2012 I was obviously a different person because this book was like the best thing since sliced bread and now I'm like oh my God this girl is so dumb that it makes me want to put the book down. Two, the narrator uses One Voice. She does not use any emotion and when she does it does not match the situation. she does not change her voice for the different characters and unless she use phrases like she said or he did or character name did said Etc I would have no idea of what character was saying or doing what. My advice would be to read the book. I think if there was more variation in the voices with the characters and there was emotion that it would make a difference but in the end she just sounds like a whiny little girl and all the characters sound like a whiny little girl because it's all one voice. if they ever did this with a different narrator I might go back and try to listen again.

Kills time but that's it

The story has waaaaay to much unbelievable completely impossible things. My biggest issue is with the narrator. She is horrible!! So boring...and the background sound when she's reading is annoying...not worth the credit...

SOOOOO disappointed DNF

I couldn't even finish the book, unfortunately I listened to enough of it I can't even return it what a waste of a credit. The narrator is very monotone which was very annoying. Tons of plot hole that seriously should have been caught by an editor. Referring to the dog by name in the scenes before they CHOOSE a name for the dog? There are so many elements that are unbelievable. Seriously how many car accidents can this chick survive in one day??!!! Not to mention at 10 degrees how do they(tiny dog included) not all freeze to death in sweatshirts. NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. A little bit a research could have cleared up so many plot holes. They eat 2 deer in 2 nights do you know how much meat that is?! Also she uses repetitive phrases and words to the point it is so distracting.
