Hanrahan's RPG roots are clear, but it's the incredible depth of his imagination that make his world and story unique. I loved every page. With The Sword Defiant, Hanrahan takes all of my favourite fantasy tropes and infuses them with creativity and vigour. The characters were unforgettable. Best of all, by the final page, I felt like I'd been on a true adventure (Brian Naslund, author of BLOOD OF AN EXILE)

This book got me hooked, love the setting, the characters and especially the premise of the book. The weary veteran, the fraying brotherhood and the city of evil now slowly corrupting it's conquerors. Many interesting turns throughout, and I enjoyed both Hanrahans writing style and the Audiobook performance. I only wish the ending was a bit more conclusive, it left a lot unexplained and up in the air, but I suppose it did leave me wanting more.
