The Sword of Tyre is the first book of a trilogy called The Conquest of Grellbain. In this book, we are introduced to Timar, a young Ekädi hunter. The Ekädi are a race of scavengers that live deep in the heart of the Ruegol forest. They are stronger than their human counterparts and have the unique abilities of blending into their environment and traveling through the treetops.
Their peaceful existence is interrupted by the appearance of some reptilian warriors that arrive from across the sea. Leading these creatures is Lord Vengru, a ruthless general who sets out to take his revenge on Grellbain, the largest fortified city in the world.
In order to gain the power he requires, he enlists the help of a witch who uses dark sorcery to show him that in order to attain his goal of destroying Grellbain, he must seek out a weapon called the Sword of Tyre. This enchanted blade would grant him eternal life and the strength necessary to destroy any that might resist him. Soon, Vengru and Timar are engaged in an ultimate race, the result deciding the fate of the world and all of humanity.

Really enjoyed this one - the story carries you on a journey that easily pulls you in while delivering enough twists, turns, drama, and action to keep you engaged from start to finish, You really feel like you get to know the main characters and feel their pain and concerns throughout. I'm a fan of D&D and as I listened to this book, I truly felt like I was in-game as the story layed itself out in front of me. Well done!
Also, excellent job from the narrator who brought the story alive with his voice, using different accents, tones, and voices of characters. Great job!

The characters were all relatable and it didn’t feel like the decisions they made were unrealistic. There were multiple times while reading the series something would happen to the characters and I would feel it personally, whether positive or negative, and that is always a good sign to me that the characters make choices that are true to real life. I really appreciated that not everything falls into place for the hero and that the hero isn’t perfect at everything immediately and never makes mistakes.
As you go through the series, you can definitely tell the author got more confident and experienced in writing the dialogue between characters as it improves. Each book was better than the next.
The world building was detailed enough that I could picture everything clearly in my head, but not so detailed that it was info-dumpy. Thanks to this book series. I now want to go live in the treetops.
Engaging story!
