About this listen

Wild parties, high-speed treasure hunts, and a string of murders to investigate–what a perfectly normal weekend for a seventy-five-year-old lord.

England, 1926. After a wealthy industrialist is found dead on a treasure hunt with the Bright Young People of London, the renowned detective, Lord Edgington, and his loyal grandson, Christopher, suspect foul play and sign up for the next speedy chase across the city. When a second body is found, shot through the heart in the centre of Westminster, the mismatched duo set off on the trail of a killer.

One victim is old and rich, the other young and poor, but could the jazz-and-drink-fuelled parties of the infamous Gargoyle Club link the apparently unrelated figures? Greed, espionage, wartime valour, fast cars, aristocrats and bohemians come crashing together in Lord Edgington’s most mind-boggling case yet. Will you be able to unravel The Tangled Treasure Trail before the seasoned detectives?

The fifth entry in the bestselling “Lord Edgington Investigates…” series of classic whodunnits is filled with twists and surprises from the first moment to the last.

Narrated by George Blagden from the TV shows Vikings and Versailles and the Oscar-winning film Les Miserables.

I love this series

I love British mystery novels. Especially ones from the earlier 1900s. These do not disappoint. The characters are interesting and the plots are not easy to figure out.

Great Story

The growth and interplay between "Grandfather" and "Grandson" is most interesting. Fun and nice surprises.

History mixed with mystery

The Bright Young Things take center stage, as Chrissy and his grandfather investigate this case.

A fun series

I’m not sure what draws me to these books but I truly enjoy them. I like the time period used as the backdrop for the stories that support the unique characters.

Great story, and great narration!

The Lord Edgington Investigates books are one of a handful of series that I will listen to instead of reading, and this is solely due to the wonderful narration by George Blagden! The Tangled Treasure Trail is another great addition to the series, and brings Chrissy and his grandfather to London where they mix with the bright young things of the day, solving not one but two murders along the way. Absolutely 5-star!

Top notched performance with great plot

Love the narration. The narrator was able to bring all characters to life. There was humour in the story and speeches, and the plot kept me guessing. I did find the end part sad. This book did not have any author’s notes after the story, unlike previous books, which was a bit of disappointment as I was looking forward to some historical facts usually shared by the author.

just never dissapoints...always very entertaining

each book as the characters are developing is getting better. And I love George Blagden as the narrator. He is excellent as William Warrick as well.

Bendict Brown does not dissapoint. Worth every penny

Christopher and Grandfather make a unique pair for a cosy mystery

I like having a new type of protagonist - a young man who is self deprecating, humorous, and very innocent at 16, and 17 years old. I like that he is not growing up too quickly despite working with his brilliant grandfather to solve crimes apart from, and in conjunction with the police! I begin the next book as soon as I finish one!
