About this listen

"Science does not need mysticism and mysticism does not need science; but man needs them both." These are the words of Fritjof Capra, a theoretical physicist, systems theorist, writer, and lecturer. In this program, Capra uses non-technical language, with no complex mathematics of formulae, to explore the main concepts and theories of modern physics, the revelations coming from particle accelerators and laboratories - and compares them with the ancient tenets of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism. In the process, the listener gains a clear and fascinating picture of how such seemingly disparate areas of thought are ultimately quests for the same kind of understanding.©1975, 1983, 1991, 1999 Fritjof Capra (P)1990 Audio Renaissance Tapes, a Division of Cassette Productions Unlimited, Inc. Marvelous experience

It was originally made on cassette tape and is abridged with a kind of tinny musical background like an old-fashioned educational unit. But a very good overview of quantum physics, what came before and where things might be headed, and how physics dovetails with older religious thought.

Good overview

I listened twice! This is good to know stuff. I recommend the book to others.

Excellent information

Deep but understandable. It satisfied my curiosity about the topic and also made me feel how little I know and little I really need to know to “perceive” the nature of everything.

This is an abridged version of the book. I HAVE the book and hoped to be able to listen to the entire tome! Three for the performance only because it sounds like it was taped 50 years ago.

Too Short!

Very profound and interesting thoughts in this book. It was about time someone wrote about the similarities between science and Eastern mysticism. I am a student of Vedanta, with a fascination for science so this book is the perfect synergy of thoughts of the the two.

Exceptional

I believe you must have a reasonable understanding of Physics and Eastern thought to make sense of the book. I don’t agree with some of his conclusions, but it made me think about mine.

Very thought provoking.

Quality and narration are ok but the subject being complex makes it harder to listen. Good overall length and diversity of views.

Complex science subject and some of eastern story

This book is understandable even in it's discussion of physics and is so skillful in interweaving physics and mystical knowledge; it is a backbone in my library of delving into ancient and truth seeking works.

Comprehensive!

I was really excited about this book because the story concept is fantastic. However, the narrator's style didn't work for me, and the audio quality has some issues with clarity and consistency. These factors made it challenging to fully immerse myself. Otherwise great story!

Great Story, Needs Audio Improvement!
