About this listen

After running from her boyfriend’s powerful organized crime family, Sara Jones starts a new life in a new town. But when people around her start dying from poisonous spider bites after she receives a mysterious package with a spider concealed inside, she worries that the family has found her.

Life takes an even more bizarre turn when she seems to be not only immune to the spider venom, but also surrounded by a sinister group of people using spiders to incapacitate their prey. Even her new boyfriend starts acting suspiciously. Just who can she trust?

To make matters worse, Sara’s 25th birthday approaches, and her dark heritage begins to emerge. She is forced to make a life-or-death decision. And somehow, she must find a way to deal with the crime family.

Creepy-crawly spider fun! 🕸🕷

Semi-Vegan horror story with spiders as heroes.

Which is pretty cool, you know? Only spiders, Hail Charlotte!—are not vegetarians, so make of that what you will.

A unique setup, worth the read! 🕸🕷

Well… they could have been giant spiders…

Plenty of creeps and crawlies in this story, and not all of them are the eight-legged type. There are enough spiders to make your skin itch, though. Add betrayals, along with some drama from boyfriends old and new into the horror, and you've got some idea of what to expect as Sara's dark family secrets emerge.

Maya James sounded just like how I imagined Sara to be.

A story of secrets

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated by Maya James, The Tegen Cave is a fine story surrounding the complicated story of Sara Jones trying to get out of a dark life that once dominated her existence. A strange web of secrets that were okay to me but the story wasn't as mesmerizing as I thought it would be.

Quixotic Dark Fantasy

This story opened with a woman running from her boyfriend and his family's organized crime business. She received a package with a spider in it, and slowly her unique heritage unfolded. This story left me with a dichotomy of emotions. The beginning was tense and exciting, and the twists and turns made me unsure as to where the story was going; however, the story moved into events that left me uncomfortable. I did complete the story, and the ending was thrilling. Maya James' narration was fine, and her performance kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Eek! Itsy bitsy spiders!

Horror. Poisonous spiders. Paranormal. Mystery. Suspense. Romance. Life or death decisions. Paralyzing venom. Blood drinking. Flesh eating. Oh, my. This author has thrown together quite the story. Oh so good.
I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin and this is my voluntary review.
The narrator is very easy to understand. She has various voices. Some understandably better than others. I feel she could have brought more tension and excitement into the story with more expression. There were plenty of gross, tense moments.
4 stars for her.

I loved it

I received a review audio copy of The Tegen Cave from the author. This story has it all: horror, suspense, romance and an intelligent heroine who is compassionate and strong-willed. The narrator Maya James did an amazing job of bringing the voice of Sarah Jones to life. I look forward to listening to the rest of Tegen series in audio format.
