About this listen

A diabolically twisty, psychologically unsettling novel about a woman with no recollection of her past from the authors of the Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick The Last Mrs. Parrish and The Wife Stalker.

"Jaw-dropping twists with an unsettling edge that you’ll need a few days at the beach to recover." (Reese's Book Club)

Addison’s about to get married, but she’s not looking forward to the big day. It’s not her fiancé; he’s a wonderful man. It’s because Addison doesn't know who she really is. A few years ago, a kind driver found her bleeding next to a New Jersey highway and rescued her. While her physical wounds healed, Addison’s memory never returned. She doesn’t know her real name. Or how she ended up injured on the side of a road. Or why she can’t shake the notion that she may have done something very, very bad....

In a posh home in the Boston suburbs, Julian tries to figure out what happened to his loving, caring wife, Cassandra, who disappeared without a trace two years ago. She would never have left him and their seven-year-old daughter Valentina of her own free will - or would she?

As these two lives intersect, The Stranger in the Mirror hooks readers with riveting drama, told with Liv Constantine’s hallmark blend of glamour, tense psychological thrills, and jaw-dropping twists.

I can’t get past the male narrator

The male narrator doing a child’s voice is so ridiculous and annoying that I can’t finish the book. Also the premise is so unbelievable that it ruins it. Like there’s an extremely simple fix that could have prevented everything in this story from happening. There’s literally a missing person database for this reason…

Hard to suspend disbelief

Well, that was a wild (and sometimes predictable, sometimes unbelievable) ride. The character choices seem bizarre in places, and also very rushed. Acting was great. 3 stars doe the book; 5 stars for the actors.

A tough listen

This was a difficult listen given the story line. The narration was excellent, which made the topic even more difficult. Not my favorite by this author.

So confusing

Started out engaging and seemed like a good mystery. By part 3 it seemed the author couldn’t decide how she wanted the story to end and went off into unbelievable ridiculous directions. Ruined the story.

Mind gripping read.

I loved this book from beginning to end. Couldn't stop listening until I finished. Excellent plot and storyline with a plot twist I didn't see coming.

So well done I will forgive the bad ending..

Liv Constantine is my guilty pleasure. She writes about unrealistic characters in really weird situations that would probably never happen, but this is part of her charm. The Stranger in the Mirror is no different. It's so far fetched it's almost hysterical, but I couldn't stop listening.

We have a young lady who's engaged to a beautiful man who loves her very much. She goes by the name Addison but she doesn't know her real name, because she has amnesia. Her husband is from a fairly wealthy family but all of them have somehow come to love Addison despite her mysterious past.

When a blast from her past shows up and explains that Addison is actually his long lost wife and mother to their child, everyone's lives are turned upside down. Even though the lost hubby comes up with stellar references and nothing odd in his background, we come to find out that things are not as they seem.

I will admit I couldn't stop listening. I ate up this far fetched story like a starving dog who's been given a steak. The ending was disappointing, but I will forgive the poor ending because the story was delicious.

THE TWISTS!

The twists in this book was everything!

Addison doesn't know who she's is and as she prepares to marry her fiance, Gabriel, she feels like some impostor. She's somehow lost her memory and can't remember anything prior to waking up along the side of the road and being rescued by a kind truck driver. Now, tormented by random flashes of horrific visions, she's compelled that much more to discovering who she is exactly. Hopefully, before saying 'I do'.

Meanwhile, there's Julian and Valentina; a father and daughter, who are saddened by the loss of their wife/mommy, Cassandra. It's been two, long years since she up and walked out of their lives, leaving everything of hers behind. With no guess as to whether or not she'll return, Valentina is beginning to give up hope but Julian refuses to.

Two great, fast-paced storylines that will have you wanting more as you work to learn what's going to happen next. Does Addison ever regain her memories in time for her wedding and will Cassandra have a change of heart and return home to her husband and daughter? You'll definitely want to read to find out!
