About this listen

Braverman Shaw—"Bravo" to his friends—always knew his father had secrets. But not until Dexter Shaw dies does Bravo discover that his father belonged to the Order of Gnostic Observatines, a hidden sect long believed to be extinct. For centuries, the Order has guarded a lost Testament that could shake Christianity to its foundations. Dexter Shaw was the latest Keeper of the Testament—and Bravo is his chosen successor.

To find the Testament, Bravo, a medieval scholar and cryptanalyst, must follow the clues his father left behind. His companion in this quest is Jenny Logan, a woman he barely knows. Jenny is a Guardian, assigned by the Order to protect Bravo, or so she claims. Bravo soon learns that he can trust no one where the Testament is concerned, perhaps not even Jenny....

Critic reviews

“Like Robert Ludlum, Lustbader is at his best when he is creating a twisted web of intrigue, violence, double cross and his own brand of oriental esotericism. . . a master storyteller.” —Publishers Weekly

Keep 'Em Coming

Eric Van Lustbader has done well in picking up Robert Ludlum's Bourne series--the only reason I purchased this book. He has been added to my list of favorites authors. I look forward to his next book.

Who is the traitor?

From beginning to end it was fast paced and ut was hard to keep track of who was really the traitor. Enjoyed the story line and characters.

We need the unabridged version

Good book, excellent action.....however, this is one book that should not have been abridged...it makes the action a little hard to follow. I've requested the book from the library.

Excellent Book

Excellent book but need the unabridged version. Also the next three books in the series. I would love to have them on audible.

The Testament

I sgree with Queene, this book has been abridged to death. I can't beleave Lustbader allowed this to be released. As a fan I was very disapointed in its compleate lack of continuity. I will not buy another abridged version.

I've read the book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I have recommend it to friends. It's a good story.

What did you like best about this story?

The secret history that may or may not be true. And the danger behind that history

Would you be willing to try another one of Eric Conger’s performances?

The reader was good performer. I was entertained. But I had problems with the production of this audiobook. I don't like abridged audiobooks, and if I would have known that this reading was abridged, I wouldn't have gotten this audiobook.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not. Most movies based on books are disappointing and don't live up to the books they're based on. And as in the Broune series, the movies are great but they have nothing to do with the books.

Never Again

This is my first and last Eric Van Lustbader book, I don't know if the unabridged version would have caused me to write a different review.
But to me the characters lacked soul, and the plot was just not credible enough for me to immerse myself into the story. One of the worst writings so far.
