About this listen
Are you excited by the potential of psychedelics for healing and personal growth? Do you aspire to become a psychedelic-assisted psychotherapist or find a well-trained and ethical practitioner? If so, "The Theradelic Approach: Psychedelic Therapy. Perspective, Preparation, and Practice" by Sunny Strasburg, LMFT, is the book you've been waiting for. In this comprehensive guide, Strasburg, accompanied by a foreword from the inventor of Internal Family Systems, Dr. Richard Schwartz, Ph.D., sheds light on the transformative power of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy in our modern world. Whether you're curious about working with psilocybin, MDMA, ketamine, or other psychedelic medicines, this book provides the knowledge and tools necessary to excel in this unique therapeutic modality.
Philosophy and a New Mythology of Psychedelics: The first section delves into the philosophy of contemporary culture and the potential of psychedelic therapy to address the pervasive challenge of mental illness. With profound insights and thorough research, the author makes a compelling case for integrating these therapies into the realm of healing and personal growth.
Psychedelic History and Characteristics, and Therapeutic Methods for Psychedelic Psychotherapy: The second section takes readers on a journey through different psychedelic medicines. By exploring their distinct characteristics, neurochemistry, and historical context, Strasburg provides a nuanced understanding of each substance. Drawing upon the expertise of leaders in the field of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and trauma, the book examines compatible therapy models, such as Internal Family Systems, EMDR, attachment theory, positive psychology, and archetypal psychology, to enrich the therapeutic process. Ethics, integrity, and compassion lie at the core of the book as it navigates the intricate ethical considerations of psychedelic therapy. By addressing these principles, practitioners can approach their work with responsibility and care, ensuring the well-being of their clients.
Step by Step Guide to Psychedelic Therapy using the Theradelic Approach and the PANTHER Method: The third section of the book serves as a practical guide, presenting a step-by-step approach to providing psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Strasburg introduces the Theradelic Approach and the PANTHER Method, a comprehensive framework encompassing crucial elements of preparation, the transformative journey, and effective integration.
These valuable insights empower therapists, researchers, and individuals seeking to understand and embark on the profound journey of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. "The Theradelic Approach" synthesizes theory, practice, and ethical considerations to pave the way for a future where psychedelic therapy contributes to healing and holistic well-being. With its depth of knowledge and compassionate approach, this book is an invaluable resource for those eager to explore the possibilities of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.

Story
An essential work that centers colonial and historical trauma in a framework for healing, Decolonizing Therapy illuminates that all therapy is—and always has been—inherently political. To better understand the mental health oppression and institutional violence that exists today, we must become familiar with the root of disembodiment from our histories, homelands, and healing practices. Only then will listeners see how colonial, historical, and intergenerational legacies have always played a role in the treatment of mental health.

Disappointed
I use EMDR, IFS and psychedelics in therapy. I’ve read extensively about the subject. I was very excited about this book but I was disappointed. The information is very basic and there is too much about IFS and very little about EMDR. There are also many scientifically unproven things about IFS that are presented as truths instead of opinions. I’d skip this one, honestly.
