Family drama, deadly secrets, and deception come to a head in the explosive conclusion of number one internationally best-selling author Sara Blaedel's Family Secrets trilogy.

Ilka Jensen's life is in chaos following the tumultuous events of Her Father's Secret. The funeral home she inherited after her estranged father's death is bankrupt. Her new business partner, Artie, lies unconscious in the hospital after a savage attack by mysterious assailants, and her father's second wife is in prison.

Then, just as Ilka learns a shocking revelation about her father, two menacing strangers turn up at the funeral home—dangerous men who mean to draw her further into a world of secrets, betrayal, and murder.

In order to protect herself and those around her, Ilka sets off on a twisting journey to confront the truth about the man who abandoned her as a child. But the long-buried secrets of her father's past are more tangled and perilous than Ilka could ever imagine....

Exhaustingly bad….

I’ve read all of Sara Blaedel’s other books. This last book in the trilogy was not only disappointing it was poorly researched. The plot was convoluted and unrealistic. The characters were not likable. The performance felt stilted. Finally, the author seems to have some unrealistic biases against the US culture. She spouts stereotypes like they’re fact: claiming religious groups are cults that are not. I’m not saying there are some religious cults that exist, but she makes it seem that every Christian religion is a cult. She also makes up a ridiculous scenario in the story about one of the characters getting possibly kicked out of the hospital while in a coma- because the hospital isn’t getting payment. Apparently, Ms Blaedel thinks doctors and hospitals in the US are so greedy that this is plausible? Overall, I found it exhausting and I couldn’t believe Ms Blaedel had actually taken the time to do much research to make up a believable and well constructed plot. What a waste of time and money.
