About this listen

While spending the summer with their grandparents on a remote farm in South Carolina, Ben Alderman and his sister, Casey, uncover a hidden world of magic; a world their grandmother is secretly visiting. It is a world where elves and dwarves are locked in mortal combat against a witch who is trying to free the last surviving wizard from exile. The witch has been defeated once before but with the combined power of the wizard, no one will be able to stand against them. Much to Ben's dismay, he learns that he is the one foretold in the ancient elfin prophecies to bring about the downfall of the witch and save this exciting new world from destruction.

Really Enjoyed!! Good flow throughout.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! This was great entertainment.Once I started I could not stop. Even took my shower with my speakers blasting. I liked the characters and enjoyed their adventure. I also liked that there was real danger at every turn without horror. The magic was fun as well.

What other book might you compare The Thirteenth Unicorn to and why?

Harry Potter- The Order of the Phoenix. A terrifying showdown between good and evil..yet hope is found in friendship and the love for each other. Courage is found.

What does Sonny Dufault bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He made the characters bold and colorful in my mind. Good job. Many narrators have been so flat and monotone I didn't finish a book because of how badly they read the story. Not so here. It was easy to feel what they were feeling and tell the difference between each person. I was completely immersed. Happy! Happy!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the unicorn came to honor them and share a vision with them. When Louise explained to her grand children what really happened to their mother.

Any additional comments?

I'm very happy book 2 is already in progress.

A great book for a family road trip!

The whole family loved this book! We took a road trip, and I wanted something the whole family could enjoy. It was full of adventure, magic, and wonder! Our children are 6, and 11, and they were both able to follow along. It’s a story for both young, and old. With references to keep them engaged, and on the edge of there seat! Highly recommend it!

I enjoyed this book immensely.

This book was fun though there were wars in it, it was not bloody it was something every child could read. And yet as an adult held my attention. I would read whatever this author would write.
