About this listen

Before the War of the Lance...

The Companions have gone their separate ways, each vowing to return with news of the growing darkness in Ansalon. Sturm Brightblade, a warrior whose honor is his life, and Kitiara, a passionate woman of uncertain loyalties, travel north in search of Sturm's long-lost father.

Before they reach their destination, a band of gnomes begs for their help. But nothing with gnomes ever goes as planned. The two adventurers are soon thrown into a perilous adventure that will take them beyond the realms of Ansalon, through love and hate, to darkness and light.

Not good, not terrible just seemed all over the place.

There were tons of continuity errors for the world that bugged me, but not enough to make me stop the book.

Now the best way I can describe this story. It's like buying an older video game with lots of DLC. You start the main quest, hit a long DLC side quest that doesn't make a lot of sense but is fun. Then after completing it you realize you have forgotten what you were originally doing and once you complete it, it's a bit of a let down compared to the Moon Dragon side quest.

Fantastic side quest

If you don't like this book then you are like Sturm and you have issues with magic. It is a fun adventure and it always leaves me curious about my little gnome friends. Do they ever make it back to the moon?

I love gnomes with super powers

I imagine Kit telling this story to Tanis (in between Winter Night and Summer Dawning)cover up the truth of what actually happened. It’s a lot of fun. Don’t pass this one up.

A fun “kender tale”

Disjointed story that felt like two or three cobbled together. I can't really recommend this one.

Barely okay...

It wasn’t what I was expecting or hoping for. Certainly didn’t care for a lot of the early to middle parts of the books. But did like the last 4 chapters of the books at least that saved the book in my eyes a bit.

It’s ok.

Good story but the narrator is the worst I've heard from an audio book, they sound like a human pretending to be a robot that is pretending to be human.

Narrator ruins the book.

narrator was hard to listen to, very jerky with wiere tempo, like they edited it and spaced words too much. the story was boring and unexciting, mad worse by the narrator.

horrible narrator, shallow dull story
