About this listen

Everyone thinks I'm a genius. Everyone is wrong. Sure, I finished Harvard at 18 and now make crazy money at a hedge fund. But that's not because I'm unusually smart or hard-working. It's because I cheat.

You see, I have a unique ability. I can go outside time into my own personal version of reality - the place I call - "the Quiet" - where I can explore my surroundings while the rest of the world stands still.

I thought I was the only one who could do this - until I met her. My name is Darren, and this is how I learned that I'm a Mind Reader.

Great story Great storyteller

This book follows a man, Darren, who throughout his whole life thought he was the only one who was able to stop time and see what was going on around him and able to walk around while everyone else was stopped, stuck in time. Until one day he sees someone else moving around with him while he has stopped time.
If you have read "The Mind Readers: Stopping Time" then you know something about the story. The person he was moving around time with was Mira. Darren tracks down Mira and her brother Eugene in an attempt to find out more about what was happening to him. He learns that he is what they call "a reader". The other connection between them is that both of them had both parents murdered.
This story is full of mystery and intrigue. Stopping time, reading minds, splitting into other dimensions. There is a good storyline and the narrator is very good. He told the story very naturally and I liked his voice, perfect for telling the story. I am getting more and more interested in listening to the books of Dima Zales. He writes so you need to find out what happens next

Definitly a good read

Thought Readers: Mind Dimension is another good read written by Dima Zales and Anna Zaires. Following the story of Darren, for the rest of the world a wunderkind but he has a big secret. Darren can stop time and explore the world around him, which gives him an upper hand. It was a pleasure enjoying this book and seeing how Darren uses his ability. I saw myself in him, in actions that I would also if I had such ability. Very well written book, material that keeps you reading on and diving deep into the world of Mind Dimension.

Amazing plot! Highly recommended!

Any additional comments?

This is my second book by Dima Zales and Anna Zaires and i must say that I am really impressed! The duo did a great job in writing this book and never failed to disappoint. The Thought Readers is a well written book about a guy named Darren with an unusual gift of stopping time around him by phasing into what he calls "the Quiet". One fateful night in the casino, he discovered that he was not the only one who possessed this gift but another mysterious girl who went by the name Mira. With the help of his hacker friend, Albert, Darren tracked her and found himself facing her brother Eugene, instead. Darren found out that he had another special ability and later discovered that there were two types of people like them who had this gift, the Reader, like him who could get inside someone's thoughts; and the Pusher, who could make someone do what they want. As the story progressed, i was hooked! If you are a fan of sci-fi novels then this is definitely a must-read!

Story excellent; narrator pauses mid-sentence super often

Love the story. Weird pausing from the narrator chops sentences in half. Other than the pauses, good voice.

It's OK but......

The overall story is a tad predictable and has an almost slice of life feel at times.

Of the two plot-twists one is done fairly well while the other can be seen from a mile away.

The writing however has a very natural pace and progression with very little of the narrative exposition feeling forced, sloppy or cliche.

The narrator while doing a awesome job at keep every character distinguished makes the main character and by extension the overall narration seem dull, flat and stale.

Overall it is good book but it does a have its share of faults

Interesting Concept

I have been more into non-fiction recently and wanted to engage my creative side. I have been a sci-fi fan for sometime and The Mind Readers is one of the best books I have experienced recently. The story is fascinating as the concept of "The Quiet" reminds me of the altered states central to P.K. Dick stories and will certainly appeal to his fans. The ability to see the memories of and thoughts of anyone and physically inhabit them would be immense. Anyone who is into fantastic sci-fi with unexpected twists would be well advised to pick up this book and I will certainly be purchasing the next installment in series. Great book.

Interesting concept

Interesting concept, and overall well done.
Not sure if it's new, but it is to me :)

Darren - the main character - has abilities beyond the usual, which he uses to his advantage in several ways. He can go into "the quiet" where time stands still, and he can walk around in that "world", touch things etc, but he can't do anything that will remain that way when he goes out. Everything will go back to be as it was.

He then discovers that he's not alone, that he can read minds, when he touches people. Not only can he tell what the other person is thinking right now, he can go back in time and experience parts of their life, and what they thought at that time.

The "I, Darren"-parts when the main character is mind reading could easily drive me crazy. I'm sure there could have been a better way to do the mind reading parts, without that stupid line occurring over and over.

Also, the story doesn't really end, but leads into the next book (I assume). Would have been nice if it had been longer and more finished. I haven't looked into the rest of the series, and probably won't be for now. Lots of other interesting books to read, and I bet the next book won't have a more finished feel to it anyway.

To be fair, the "exciting" arc in this book is finished and wrapped up.
I first rated 4 stars, but reconsidered. It's probably 3 1/5 stars. So - 3 stars.

I'll (try to) return to this series, when all the awesome books on my TBR have been read. As I said, I like the concept. Just not so much, that I have to continue right now.

The narrator did an okay job with the material he had.
He sounded slightly bored at times - and made me want to scream each time he said "I, Darren". But how could he say it? Have to read what's in the book.

A Must Read!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, anyone who loves syfy/thriller/action and the unknown!!! The book keeps you looking for more and wanting to keep listening/reading flipping through the pages!

What did you like best about this story?

The silence and how he keeps going back and forth between the two dimensions.

Which character – as performed by Roberto Scarlato – was your favorite?

Darren for obvious reasons... main character of the first book and wanting to know more about him!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

In a single touch.....

Any additional comments?

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book (audible) as I like to flip pages by hand. But OH MY GOODNESS this book was awesome, so glad I was able to listen to it. At first I was a bit confused at what was going on but in Chapter 2, I was deep into it and couldn't stop!!! Audible took about 6 hours to listen to, so I was able to finish today (after receiving this for free for my unbiased opinion) I SOOOO want book two! Who are you!?? What are you? Jumper, Reader, Pusher.... This is a definite must read for any syfy action thriller lover :) Pick it up!!!!!!
