Publisher's summary

Mexico, 1917. On a farm during the violent tumult of revolution, a more immediate threat prowls in a short, emotional story about survival by the New York Times bestselling author of Mexican Gothic.

She is the adventurer of the family. Her brother, the gentle dreamer. Even as they bond over folktales and hold each other close, their world has never felt so dangerous. Revolutionaries and pelones are in conflict, soldiers have turned into scavengers, and an escaped tiger has slipped up the mountain, looking for easy prey. As the darkest of legends becomes real, a young girl will do anything to save her brother’s life.

Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s The Tiger Came to the Mountains is part of Trespass, a collection of wild stories about animal instincts, human folly, and survival from award-winning, bestselling authors. Read or listen to each in a single sitting.

A beautiful story

I love the story. Well written. Romantic, fierce, dramatic.
I also enjoyed the narrator. Easy to hear. I appreciated that I didn’t have to constantly adjust the volume as is the case with so many narrators.

Amazing Story

I totally enjoyed this story which takes place in 1918 Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. It is the story of a 13 year old girl as told by her great granddaughter in 2022 who kills a huge circus tiger that had escaped from a derailed train. This is my first time to read/listen to author Silvia Moreno-Garcia and I was not disappointed. Well narrated by Cynthia Farrell.

Frightening

1917 Mexico war time. A survivor story, I should not have read it, for me it awakened my experiences that were better left alone. I can only tell you my reactions, I think you will decide yourself. Not recommended reading before bed, but these are the stories we need to heed and remember. Thank you granddaughter for telling it.

I wish it was longer

could not understand some of the story because of narrators accent but I understand
for the area the story took place, and she did well with detail.

SILVIA MORENO-GARCIA

CYNTHIA FARRELL NARRATED THE TIGER CAME TO THE MOUNTAINS BY SILVIA MORENO-GARCIA IN THIS LATEST AUDIO PERFORMANCE. EVERY MAN IS SEEN AS A NOBLE HUNTER TO THE CHILDREN. IT HAPPENS ONE DAY THAT A TIGER ENCOUNTERS THE VILLAGE. KNOWING THIS, THERE ARE ONLY SO MANY AVENUES THE TOWN FOLK CAN TAKE.

Short but packed a punch

This was a short story that I listened to on Audible and enjoyed the narrator and the way she made me care for the characters in such a short period of time.
It was like getting to experience a story in first person that has been passed down from generation to generation about what happened to family during a tumultuous time.

H is for Hippo. L is for Lion. T is for Tiger.

Although it was short, it still packed a punch, but would always like more when I get a story such as this. I liked this side of Silvia Moreno-Garcia's writing style and the way she had the animals such an integral part of the story and part of survival.
Narration was fantastic and I will definitely check out more of these books that are part of the Trespass collection. They are a nice listen and ones that can be finished in under an hour. A perfect palate cleanser.

Interesting

The narrator was good. The story was OK . Needed more development. It almost seems like life of common people in Mexican revolution rather than the tiger coming to mountain.
