About this listen

Obey the rules. It’s the only way to survive the night in a short story about what hides in the dark by the New York Times bestselling author of The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires.

Marcus grew up believing his father killed his mother—then blamed it on the boogeyman under the bed. Always leave the lights on, his father warned, or the boogeyman will get you. Marcus still heeds the superstition, especially when he invites his new girlfriend over. Is Marcus haunted by a creature or has he just inherited his father’s murderous delusions? The night will tell.

Grady Hendrix’s Ankle Snatcher is part of Creature Feature, a collection of devilishly creepy stories that tingle the spine and twist the mind. They can be read or listened to in one petrifying sitting.

Who doesn’t have 45 minutes to spare?

I hope you do, because this is a must listen to short story! The story was creepy and brutal. Grady Hendrix does such a great job of grabbing your attention and giving you the chills while he does.

Definitely listen to this!! The voice actor also does a fantastic job.

Nice and Short

This story was nice and short. I listened to it while getting ready one morning. It’s amazing to me what Grady Hendrix was able to portray in less than an hour. It isn’t five star worthy to me but it’s still really good.

Creepy premise

Well read and written. Something we have all feared as children at some point. Creepy

New Levels of Unease

This story is far creepier than I expected going in. For a tale so short it covers a great deal and never allows the dread to fade as it rockets along. The Narrator knocks the performance out of the park, nailing the emotion with ease. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a rough night's sleep.

Another great by Grady!! Plus 5 Star Narration!

This was an excellent short story and the narrator was fabulous! I hope he does more horror narration in the future!

Ehhhh…. (head scratch)

Too many unanswered questions and no twist ending — it felt like I waited for something that never came. The narrator was good though… and the description of the “eating” was good. But overall, I was unimpressed

Every kid’s nightmare

As an adult I still don’t sleep with my feet hanging over the bed, terrified of what might be lurking under the bed. Grady Hendrix captures that fear perfectly in this story of what hides under our beds in the dark.

too short

I liked the story overall but the ending felt like it was lacking for me.
