His king or his conscience...which will he choose?

It is the winter of 1776, and Captain John Carlisle, one of His Majesty’s not-so-finest, has gone back to the scene of the crime to right a wrong so dark it left a permanent stain on what was once an illustrious career and left a man broken, defeated, in search of justice....

In an effort to win back his commission, he must discover the true nature of the relationship between the six nations of the Iroquois and the colonial army. Undercover as a war profiteer, John travels to the treacherous Mohawk River Valley and infiltrates local society, making friends with those he’s come to betray. But a chance meeting with a beautiful, half-Oneida innkeeper, whose tragic history is integrally linked to his own, will provide him with the intelligence he needs to complete his mission - and devastate her people.

Now, as the flames of war threaten to consume the Mohawk Valley, John has the chance to not only serve the king and country, but to clear his name. When the truth he uncovers ties his own secrets to those in the highest positions of the British military and threatens the very life of the woman he’s come to love, he will be forced to make a choice....

T.J. London was a new to me author and definitely won't be the last time I listen.
I don't know if I will ever be able to listen to Patrick Zeller again without thinking of his character in this book.
I'm a huge fan of Shane East and he is a big reason I chose this book, although the other reviews of this book led me to it as well.
Tara Langella and Marnye Young were also new to me and they were both really good in their parts.

The story is intriguing. Although I thought I had a couple of things figured out, I was continuously surprised. At the end of one chapter I was just OMGing all over the place because it was such a shock to me.

Love the story, love all the narrators. Can't wait for the rest of the series to come into audo.

Great Story

The Tory, the first book in the Rebels and Redcoats saga, by TJ London is a wonderful depiction of American history. The story of Captain John Carlisle, British spy and scoundrel on the path of redemption, and the half-breed innkeeper Dellis McKesson who helps him navigate the native tribes as part of his mission while undercover as a tradesman. Though not meant as a love story, the relationship between John and Dellis is integral to the story, as she heals John in body and spirit, while seeking revenge against the British who killed her father, not knowing the secrets John hides. The story is harsh and sometimes brutal, as was life in that time. And the end leaves you wanting to see how the story resolves.

The narrating cast, including Shane East and Tara Langella was absolutely phenomenal! I really enjoyed having the full cast narration, a first for me, but definitely it the last. I can’t wait to listen to the second book, The Traitor!

Historical Fiction at its BEST!

Audiobook review: This book was sooooo good. I’m not normally one to listen to or read historical anything but I am a fan now. TJ London is a new to me author but she has earned herself a new fan in me.

The narration was beyond amazing. Three of the four were new to me narrators but they all did such an amazing job. I became so invested in all the aspects of the story and now I’m counting down the days until I can listen to the next book.

Bravo Ms. London. Very well done.

Story & Narration was beyond amazing

the Tory by T.J. London is one of those books that stick with you for a very long time. It is for fans and lovers of history, for its richness, honor and respect of our past. to tell the stories of those "history" may easily forget and for those of us that enjoy a little romance, you have a very slow build in this amazing story.
If you love big books, this one is right up your alley. there is a huge plot brewing that I cannot wait to uncover.

highly recommend.

the audio version just adds so much more depth to the story itself. the actors did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life. well worth the splurge for the audio book. the voice of John is just Fantastic. dellis' actress has a nice crisp tone that really exemplifies the character Ms. London was introducing us to and the voice of the man behind it all, the villain of this tale has a carefree voice that just makes his character feel that much more sinister. this audio book is a delight to the ears and some glitter to the imagery we already have pictured in our brains as the reader. really well done. Very much looking forward to the next installment.

Beguiled by the reviews I failed to notice they were all written by women, Still it was a good listen written by a very talented female author that will appeal to female readers/listeners who like a bit of the tastefully erotic mixed in with their romantic historic adventure novels. My taste tends more to Bernard Cornwell, Patrick O'Bryan,Alexander Kent, Tom Clancy, Shaara although one of my all time favorite books I have listened to many times is the Pulitzer Prize book THE GUNS OF AUGUST by Barbara Tuchman. I am tempted to listen to the last 2 in the trilogy The Turncoat and the Traitor just to see what happens and I suppose if I were a women it would be a 5 star rating. One suggestion I have for T.J.London. Why not apply your skills to a book about ALFRED THE GREAT?? The only English King to be called Great.

Colonial revolutionary adventure/romance

The Tory by T.J. London is exciting, emotional, and the full-cast narration brings this story to full-blown life. It’s filled with passion, intrigue, burning hot romance, and fascinating characters. All things that kept me reading into the night. The scenery descriptions and events in the story were so captivating that at times I needed to set it aside to catch my breath. I highly recommend The Tory if you love action and romance together. This book is a great introduction to the Rebels and Redcoats series which promises to be an epic experience. I cannot wait to read the next book The Traitor which I am sure will bring me more sleepless nights.

Overwhelmingly fascinating

This was captivating from the moment it started. A bit of mystery, romance, history based on reality, and lots of tension. All four narrators were spot on with characterization. London knows how to write excellent imagery, and these narrators definitely brought it to life.

Excellent historical fiction with lots of tension

No spoilers- but this is a historical romance that is full of espionage and intrigue that leaves you panting for the second book.
The love story is compelling and the chemistry is very very well done
I will warn you that there are some graphic torture scenes but lays true to the time period
The narration is superb and well casted! Well worth the credit!

Well Done-Absolutely Fantastic and Gripping
