Good book if you understand what it is about

I am an avid listener of audiobooks. I average anywhere from 3 to 5 a week. I also have no problem picking up book 8 in a series first if it's all I can find and then jumping around. All that being said the author did a very poor job explaining when this book takes place in the timeline as well as several other things such as what the " legend" is, and just why the whites were capturing Crestlin, other than the fact that he is the main character.

Once you understand just what the heck is happening it's a great book

Awesome performance!

The premise was interesting and unique. I would definitely read the next installment, not to mention, the narration was flawless!

A solid entry

This is a solid entry in the Recluse series. It is one if the harder reads, almost painful at times, but the payout us there and it provides a necessary background for so much else in the series that it should not be missed.

About time, old favorite now in audible

One of my favorites as a teenager. Fascinating magic system. Pleasure to listen/read again.

not one of his better books

narrator was great. the story was forced. I really like the authors writing and many of the other books in the series but this one was weak with a plot that seemed forced and hard to follow.

Read just the way I did in my head

I love this series. Hayborn is an excellent narrator, capturing the story and planting not only a great audible experience in the listener's head, but a visual one as well. Better than any movie experience.

Narration weak

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I like all of this authors books and have read them multipule times, but this work was his first in the series and has some rough edges.

What other book might you compare The Towers of the Sunset to and why?

This is like most of the authors other books but I have found very few of this type else where.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

No the narration was slow and plodding and raised very little emotion considering the story.

Just as good as the first!

The magic of recluse was one of the best books in my recent memory and the second book meets the expectation it goes back and tells a story that is unique and stands on its own apart from the first book but still remains intrinsic to the world the author previously created.
Add in fantastic reading with different readers for different characters working in perfect unison, and you have an immersive and addicting experience

good book, good narrator, bad sound control/leveli

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, both in reading and audio format. The narrator gives a very solid performance that is quite enjoyable, with the exception of the sound levels. It is difficult to enjoy at a reasonable volume because the majority of the book seems dampened to allow the sound effects greater amplitude. In short, great read, great reader, and poor work in post editing.
