Story
In this series of informal talks to close students, Eknath Easwaran comments on short extracts from the Imitation of Christ by Thomas à Kempis, a classic 15th-century Christian text. Recognizing that these gems of spiritual counselling are expressed in difficult, medieval language, Easwaran takes care to place them in a contemporary context. He shows how this great text contains much sound, sensitive psychology that can guide us in making wise choices today.

Stress and anxiety affect many of us as we struggle with work pressures, money worries, strained relationships, and the nagging sense that life may be running out of our control. But in the midst of chaos, we can find balance, peace, and wisdom, Easwaran says, if we learn to steady our minds. It’s a simple idea, but one that runs deep - a truly calm mind can weather any storm.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Words. We use them all the time, every day, mostly without giving them much thought at all. We take for granted that they’re here at our disposal whenever we need them. But if you’ve ever wished you could communicate more effectively, words are the place to start. It’s incumbent upon you to choose the best words to accomplish your goals, because how you choose to communicate influences—well, everything! The power of communication shapes our professional goals, our relationships, and our lives—so the words we choose to use carry a great deal of power.

Story
I have discovered a group of women who refuse to be exploited, are immune to manipulation, and who never settle in the name of love. These ladies know what they want and take what they want by beating men at their own game. Utilizing the secrets exposed in this book, these women gain power, money, and status. Men call them gold diggers, women call them hos, but they call themselves winners. This is the book that society doesn't want you to listen to….

His voice, Gandhi’s anger
Very helpful nuggets of inspiration for transforming anger. I’ve wanted to become inspired to make change.

Opinion
As a chemist and a physician, in my humble opinion, this is the best practical interpretation of what energy truly is meant to be.

Not what I expected, but enjoyable...
The audio is from a speech or lecture, so it's not the cleanest recording in regards to background noise. The speaker also has an accent, making it more difficult to make out. I'm sure this depends upon what stereo or headphones you have, but I thought I'd give others a heads up. Now, I expected some 'how to' aspect to things, but that wasn't the format to the recording. The speaker told quite a few stories, illustrating the transformation of anger. I found the recording very entertaining and humorous. It made me smile and laugh, which is a first among all the Audible books I've listened to. While it wasn't what I expected, I did enjoy it and would listen to it again. It's really short, so it's suitable for a 45 minute to 1 hour drive.

Classic Easwaran
I can never get enough of Eknath Easwaran. This is a great little talk he gives packed full of funny stories, clever thoughts and unique insights packed into a relatively short period of time.
I'll always recommend Easwaran's work whether you're a seeker, a Yogi, a Psychologist or just a human being with a pulse. No matter who you are, Easwaran had the wisdom to teach us all something.

Not a how to, more of an intro
this was good, don't get me wrong, but based on the description I was expecting more than a quick intro on the idea of using anger to motivate positive action.
regardless it's well done, funny, and has a few good stories

Very marginal
I’m a big fan of Easwaran, but this book is terribly short on substance. He tells you that anger is bad for the world and for you. He tells you that anger should be transformed to compassion. He tells you that good things can happen when you do this, using Gandhi’s example. (He also tells a long story about bears that is tangential at best.) But he gives no practical advice on how to transform anger into compassion. Don’t waste your money; consult Thich Nhat Hanh’s and Pema Chodron’s Audible books on anger instead.
