Publisher's summary

Nothing is more important than worship.

It is the theme of Scripture, the theme of eternity, and the theme of redemptive history — to worship the true and living and glorious God is the purpose of all creation. So why do we treat it as only what is sung or played in church on Sunday morning?

Pastor John MacArthur leads you through Scripture texts about true worship. You will learn that worship is any essential expression of service rendered unto God by a soul that loves and extols Him for who He is. Worship is the nonstop role of believers, not merely part of a church service.

So get ready to alter your priorities, aiming higher than entertaining worshipers on Sunday mornings. Worship shows that your ultimate priority must always be to worship the true and living God, with a radically different type of living.

A necessary read for any Christian!

I loved the very detailed exposition from genesis to revelation of what worship was supposed to be, what it has become, and what it will be on the other side of glory.

Learning How To Glorify God

The content was revelatory for those that have eyes to see and ears to hear. The Holy Spirit used this teaching to help challenge my thinking and enlighten me on what is truly important and how my focus should be in my walk as a Christian. Thank you for your obedience John McArthur.

Excellent primer for biblical worship

This book is an excellent introduction to a holistic study of worship. The modern conception of worship is plagued by a narrow view of the word. Worship is more than music.

I encourage fellow Christians to listen to this work. The concepts are biblically grounded by proper handling of the text. This book does not give an opinion or a new perspective. It answers the question: “what does God’s word say about worship?”

As a church musician myself, I urge those who share in this ministry, please listen to this book. I likewise encourage elders and deacons to listen. Congregations need a concise explanation of worship. This volume can be a resource to your flock or may help you convey the idea to them.

MacArthur’s ministry continues to be a blessing to the church. I pray the faithful exposition presented in this book will be a blessing to you.

Great content, awful presentation

The work of John MacArthur is deep, scripturally, rich, and well presented. However, the delivery of this audiobook is so monotone that I could only take about five to ten minutes at a time. This doesn’t sit well when you are trying to truly be engaged in the content. I literally feel like someone was bored reading it to me, which takes away from the message completely. Any semblance of interest in the content is completely missing. I wish I could give this higher stars because the content itself is so good. Notably, I am going to have to re-read this in print form in order to truly appreciate it for what it is. I hope of JMs other books use the same narrator! I will be lucky to finish this book in audio form.
