About this listen

Miles

Studies astrophysics? Check. Loves Star Wars? Check. Still a virgin at twenty-one with zero experience in real life? Double-check.

I didn't want any fanfare around my twenty-first birthday. But when a series of unfortunate accidents confirming Ramsey's rules of randomness takes place right in front of my eyes, I find myself dancing with the hottest, most popular jock on campus.

Liam makes me feel special. He makes this night one to remember. He becomes the very first boy I ever kissed. Except it's all a charade. He's just making his crazy ex-girlfriend crazier and I'm happy to play along. But when the door is closed and his ex isn't around to see us, are we still faking it?

Liam

Am I going through one helluva breakup? Yes I am. Am I coping with it by dancing with the first guy who accidentally pissed my ex off? You bet I am.

Hayley and I were supposed to spend our lives together. Well, that was the plan until she changed the plan. Oops, the nerd just kissed me; and you can bet your life I kissed him back. Now she knows what it feels like.

And I discover it feels way better than I expected.

Contains mature themes.

Why must people use "CLEAN" when talking about status?

This author uses the term "CLEAN" to denote HIV Status. Using that term not only shows complete ignorance on the author's part, but also infers that people living with HIV are "DIRTY"

Anyone with even the slightest modicum of compassion would know better than to use such a disgusting term or perpetuate such a nasty stigma!

Really sweet

Narrator was good. Story is sweet, but predictable (but I just needed something light like this, so I'm satisfied :-)).

Started Great But Took a Dip at the End.

This story started out so good, and I did really love the connection between Liam and Miles throughout the story. They were so cute together and the writing had great chemistry. Miles was such a lovable character, so much so that you almost wanted to reach inside the story and protect him. Liam I enjoyed a lot too, but less so than Miles. The crazy girlfriend angst in the beginning and mid-book was fine, there’s usually some angst in these romance novels but the angst again at the end seemed overkilled. It was really annoying that Liam couldn’t find his backbone and let his crazy exgirlfriend lie to everyone and disrespect Miles. I almost didn’t bother finishing it but since I’d invested almost 5 hours already I stuck through it, and I am glad I did cause I was almost at the point where I wanted Miles to find a man who deserved him and Liam finally saying something took too long for me, but luckily it wasn’t for Miles and I wanted that character to get his HEA. He was much more forgiving than I was. It honestly did taint the end of the book for me to where I couldn’t quite appreciate the end as much as I probably would have if Liam had stood up for Miles right away. The narration was great though, Cooper North did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life. For that I feel like the story gets a 3.5 but the narration a 5.

In the Stars

This is a sweet story of two young men that seem very unlikely as a couple. They sort of fall into a fake relationship and then that's when the fun begins. They are working things out and dealing with other people's agenda. This story was fun to listen to.

GOAL!!!!!

Narration was great, story was well paced, nothing felt rushed or incomplete to me.

Note: I started out listening to this genre by following a recommendation for a light “mystery” (hint, it was a romance and that friend still plagues me for falling into the trap) with two gay male leads. I’ve come to appreciate romances for what they are, can suspend my disbelief well enough and am finally an unrepentant sap at times. This is one of those times, this is one of those books. It actually made me smile.

No spoilers here, but I’ll just say this was sweet and hot and could fill an evening with soccer and stardust, if you’re inclined.
