About this listen

Trent Lockheart might be the new sheriff in town,
but he can't stop Jessie Jean from stealing his heart.

Sheriff Trent Lockheart knew he'd be in for a challenge when he moved from the big city and a large police force to the small Wyoming town of Cobble Creek. But at least he'd be able to stick to his bachelor ways without temptation.
So he thought.
Cobble Creek isn't overflowing with young, single ladies, but Jessie Jean—the gorgeous woman who runs the Country Quilt Inn—proves more tempting than any he's known.

Jessie doesn't care much for the new sheriff in town. After an explosive first meeting that almost ends in Jessie's arrest, she's even more determined to plan on dinner for one for the rest of her life.
Sure, the new sheriff is seriously attractive, and after a second, much less dangerous run-in, he might not be that bad, but Jessie has no plan to marry, date, or even let a man into her life. Still, as the days pass, Trent's surprising charm works past Jessie's determination, and she finds promise in their budding relationship.

After opening up about the difficulties in her past, Jessie finds that Trent is guarding a dark tragedy of his own, one that might threaten their chance at a future together.
**Trigger Warning: Talk of a fatal car accident and the loss of a loved one.**

I love everything Kimberly Krey writes, always light and airy with a bit of seriousness. She does it in a way that seems effortless.
Warning: This is narrated with "virtual voice" which means the voice inflections are off and the cadence can be a awkward. Plus, there are times when you don't realize who is voicing their thoughts and a change of location or time has occurred.

Light and fun

With the AI reading , sometimes the story felt disjointed because it takes a minute to realize that it was the start of a new chapter.
The character growth was good and the real emotions came through. Both main characters have a past that hinders them in relationships and faith in themselves and others. This unlikely couple are entertaining with real emotions, it was a good read/listen. One that you can play with the Family around, which makes me happy.
I just have a hard time with the AI 🤖 reading. I prefer double narratives where you can easily tell what characters head your in.

The book is cute but the virtual voice thing just didn't do it justice. Overall it was a good book.

Virtual voice dulled it.

Fun read with a good message
I love when there is a book series, I love when characters co exist in a place they call home.
I am not crazy about virtual voice, but I love that it is free. I’m so grateful they are available for me to listen to now.

I liked the story, I don’t love virtual voice. My previous experience with virtual voice was a psychological thriller. It took me a while to keep from thinking this was the same genre just bc my mind kept going back to that bc the voice and tone was the same.

Good story
