About this listen

Funerals; for most of us the trappings of the funeral parlor and the finality of the cemetery commemorates the end, but for an actor like Armand Tesla, who was best remembered for his vampire roles, a funeral is only the beginning. Armand Tesla was to be buried in his vampire costume, but obviously the aged star of stage and screen horror was not yet ready to ring down the final curtain. No, it would not be nearly so easy to bury such a restless corpse. So be prepared for a case of a body that won't stay put and the tale of a struggling young movie director with more ambition than talent who turns up missing at the vampire's last bow. Indeed, my friends, this will prove to be just the kind of case that only a psychic Hollywood detective like Charles Criswell King, aided by Famous Monster Forrest J Ackerman, can solve. So, gentle reader, be prepared for a tale of creaking doors and empty coffins, of gunshots in the night and damsels in distress, all part of "The Vampire's Tomb Mystery."

The Vampite’s Tomb Mystery by Dwight C. Kemper

Any additional comments?

Dwight, “ I so enjoyed the old Hollywood’s golden years of pulp fiction with the science fiction/fantasy character’s from the past - Uncle Forrey. Ray “Pop’s” Bradbury, Ed Wood, Criswell, Bela Lugsoi and Armand Tesla. Armand’s Death and the events pre and postmortem weaves a brilliant tapistry of the macabre antics and suspenseful mystery revolving around the iconic Hollywood Cemetery.” Reminded me of Laurel and Hardy slap stick comedy. Loved the book and the unfolding story therein. Great read. Kudos to you.

The Story Must Be Told!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. If you prefer to listen to an audiobook this one is a special treat with the narrator/s fitting the characters voices quite nicely.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I've read all of Mr. Kemper's books and they never fail to keep me turning the page in befuddlement as to what will happen next. The humor to the story is a big plus.

Have you listened to any of Helen Stirling and Sam Burns ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is the first one.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Baby boomers like me will have an especially nostalgic response as it touches on many icons of our days as kids watching the late night movie. The precise attention to historical detail is a factor that increases the enjoyment of the book.

It's my book, so I'm prejudiced!

I hope you will enjoy listening to my novel as much as I enjoyed writing it!

It holds true to the time frame with the perfect amount of suspense, mystery, and humor. It kept me on the edge of my seat whilst taking care of some very boring paperwork. Thank you, Mr. Kemper for making at least two work days not so tedious!
